These are the amazing things I learned from Bro. Eli Soriano's teaching on the above-mentioned topic in addition to my own personal research as well.
Proverbs 18:22 (NIV)
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.
This is a very interesting topic as most people would rather be defined by their relationship status rather than by their purpose in life. Finding or getting a wife is a good thing as clearly pointed out by the Scriptures. We should be able to find a wife while doing God's purpose.
The first step in courting a Christian woman is to wait and be patient. Women love diligent men and more so, a Christian woman. She wants to support. She wants a man she can be proud of. She wants a man that would be sold out to God's will and purpose especially with the distractions we have in our modern world. She wants peace and stability and how better to have it than to be in God's Will. A man that won't listen to God won't appeal to a Christian woman because you can only love your woman right if you can love God and obey Him.
Careful examination of the Bible shows us how Eve was deceived by the serpent and dragged down Adam with him. God came down and it was Adam that was held accountable even though he was deceived by his wife to do it. As a man, a woman would always appreciate a man deep into God's will.
1 Corinthians 7:27 (NIV)
Are you pledged to a woman? Do not seek to be released. Are you free from such a commitment? Do not look for a wife.
Adam was busy doing God's instructions and work by tilling the garden, naming animals and enjoyed doing it. It was God who knew he needed a helper and He provided it for him. God knows what you need of and that's why He said even before we call on Him, He would answer us, just as we also call on Him. He knows everything we need but He needs us to trust Him along the way.
Most of the time, we go in search of a wife thinking that is what we need next. It is never about the age or societal pressure but it should be about doing the will of God. God knows what we need and He is more than willing to get it for us if we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.
Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
All these things mentioned above is not just limited to spiritual blessings but material blessings too, more so a wife or a husband. God knows what we need and we just have to trust Him. When we go in search of it on our own, we sometimes think we know the best because we judge based on the face value whereas God searches the heart and He knows the end from the beginning.
Only God can give a wife and we have to be in His will for us to know who He wants for us - who will complement and fuel His purpose and agenda for our life.
Proverbs 19:14 (NIV)
Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.
God knows His children and He knows how to give you one of His children for a wife. Looks can be deceptive. Face value is sometimes false value. We can't tell a lot by mere looking but God knows every man and woman.
Adam wasn't looking for a wife but God gave Him one and we are the ones to know how to bring the best out of the person we have been given. You know how best to treat her when you are sold out to God's purpose.
Our first response as a man is to be conscious of our purpose and wait for the right time. God can use many ways to show us who He is leading us to. It could be in a place of prayer or a gentle nudge in your spirit or that gentle still voice but until then, we need to wait and be in God's business.
Courtship is a process of getting to know each other and identifying each other. How best to know than to serve God together. Don't set out looking for a wife, rather set out looking and fulfilling God's purpose for your life and you will get the wife that would align with God's purpose for your life. Good and perfect gifts come from the Father of light in whom there is no variableness.
