Chelsea snapped a game of 2 games losing streak to win 3-0 against West Ham. It must be a relief for Frank Lampard because he frankly needed to rack up the points. Chelsea is now in 5th position, pushing Tottenham to 6th position.
Thiago Silva showed his class when he buried a thumping header into the back of the net in the 10th minute to leave the West Ham goalkeeper with no chance of saving it. You would appreciate his movement more as he lost his marker and came up to deliver the goods. It was a lovely goal to watch.
West Ham thought they had taken the lead in the 7th minute but was flagged for offside. If the goal had stood, it would have knocked Chelsea back a bit. West Ham showed flashes of their brilliance but they lacked the cutting edge and against a team like Chelsea, you will be punished.
Chelsea doubled their lead in the 78th minute when Tammy Abraham scored. He completed his brace to make it 3-0 in the 79th minute. The pressure would cool down a bit as Chelsea is now a point away from the Champions League place. That would be a relief at least, as they are now within a touching distance.
Burnley climbed out of the relegation zone with their Win over Wolves. I was particularly surprised to see Burnley win over Wolves. Well, this season has been filled with surprises and nothing is a guarantee anymore. We take it as it comes.
But let secured their 3rd win of the season. I felt Wolves would nick it but they couldn't as Burnley won 2-1 on the night, thanks to goals from Chris Woods and Ashley Barns for Burnley and Wolves pulled one back late into the game through Fabio Silva in the 89th minute when he won the penalty and then converted it. Burnley is now out of the relegation zone and this shows that Arsenal cannot afford another slip up as teams below are catching up with them in points, gradually.
