Not the way Liverpool - the reigning champions would want to end the year but that was how they ended it. Liverpool was held to a goalless scoreline by Newcastle. It is a good result for Newcastle because they need all the point they can get against top teams and having that against Liverpool is not an easy feat as they had moments of brilliance where they could have opened the scoring against the champions.

Manchester City's game against Everton was postponed due to the increase in Covid cases amidst City's camp but the game against Liverpool went through and they got the all-clear to play.

This season has been phenomenal. The twists and turns and the unexpected results too added the gloss to 2020 and you can see the margin between the 1st placed and the second-placed isn't far fetched unlike last season when Liverpool ran away with the title in a devastating effect.

Liverpool would be kicking themselves for not winning this match. Wilson threatened Liverpool's backline and could have taken the lead twice if not for Alisson who did brilliantly well to save both chances.

Salah also missed a glorious chance which you could have bet he would easily bury but he couldn't. Firmino and Mane also drew out a brilliant saves from Newcastle's goalkeeper on numerous occasions with Salah another culprit for missing another chance.

Liverpool would feel particularly aggrieved for not winning this match even though they did everything and came close on numerous occasion but Newcastle stayed resilient.
