Another away win for United. It is going well for them on the road and another lovely performance from United. United should have been clearly out of sight by 3 goals at least in the first 20 minutes of the game. United dominated every aspect and gave Everton no chance for the first 20 minutes.
Everton stayed in the game thanks to the impressive performance of the goalkeeper. Cavani, Greenwood and Fernandes came close but couldn't break the resilient defence of Everton.
The game looked destined for a draw which would mean penalties would decide it and both teams were hanging on, hoping to nick it in the end. Everton tried all they could, just as United. Either team could have won it at this point but Cavani came up with the goods in the 88th minute. His goal was typical of a man with a wealth of experience as he nudged the ball in between two players to smash a curling effort beyond the reach of the ever-impressive Everton goalkeeper.
Everton would feel aggrieved not to get anything from the match or win it and they threw all their men forward just to drag the game to penalties.
Fernandes could have killed that hope earlier when he struck the tip of the crossbar but the substitute - Martial wouldn't make that mistake as he scored in the 96th minute.
Both sides could have won it and United had some beautiful attacking plays that could have led to goals but they were wasteful. Not only that, they were sloppy with their passes too, as well as their rhythm but the major thing is, they delivered and the match has been won. This would boost the confidence of this team like never before.
Good game. A much-needed win too.
