Manchester City looks like they are running away with the title after the opened up a 10 point lead over second-placed Manchester United. United and Leicester City share the same point but United are head-on goal difference. Guardiola's charge has now scored 46 goals, winning 17 games, conceding just 6 goals while keeping 11 clean sheets. They are in a row! This win against Everton is now their 17th successive win. By this time last season, they were 17 points off the table with Liverpool leading the pack.
Everton has only won once in the last 14 Premier League encounter with City. They have drawn 4 times and lost 9 times. This made it the 10th loss. They have only won 4-0 in January 2017 when they played at home.
Manchester City has won each of their last 5 Premier League games against the Toffees, scoring at least 2 goals each time they faced them. It is their longest ever winning run too against Everton.
Everton has also lost their last 2 home Premier League games and the last time that happened to make it 3 in a row was in 2016 when Roberto Martinez was in charge. That stretch has been matched with this loss against City for this game.
Carlo Ancelotti hasn't lost 3 home League games in a row since he last did it in November 2006 when he was in charge of AC Milan. He also matched that now by losing 3-1 to Manchester City.
Manchester City has now become the first team in the history of top-flight football to have won the opening 10 Premier League matches in 2021 (calendar year), breaking the record set by Bolton in 1906 and Manchester United in 2009.
City signalled their intent from the get-go when Gabriel Jesus brilliantly found his way into the box in the 9th minute before his effort was blocked for a corner. Bernado Silva did the same trick from the same right angle to beat his marker and found his way into the box too shortly after and the effort was also blocked for a corner kick.
City tried everything to unlock Everton's defence and the moment finally came in the 32nd minute when Foden's brilliant effort and shot went into the net via a deflection off Seamus Coleman who came in for the injured Mina.
Everton responded in like manner when a ball into the box from Coleman struck the post only for it to touch Richarlison's thigh and rolled into the net. The half time whistle blew and it was 1-1. They both produced brilliant attacking moves with City dominating.
Everton almost went ahead with a lovely effort from Sigurdsson in the 53rd minute when he turned and had his shot blocked. It was a beautiful play for Everton in the build-up to that attempt. Rodri almost put City ahead too in the 61st minute when a brilliant corner found him but he headed wide.
City sensationally took the lead when Mahrez drove in on his favourite position on the edge to the box to release a brilliant shot that found the other side of the net in the 63rd minute. In the 77th minute, City sealed their 10 points advantage and made it 3-1 against Everton on the night.
A brilliant passing game starting from Rodri to Foden to Walker and Gabriel Jesus led to Jesus passing to Silva on the edge of the box. He drove in and unleashed a shot that the goalkeeper couldn't keep out.
Kevin Debruyne is back into the side and you can only expect City to stroll into winning the title now. He came in for Sterling in the 79th minute and Mahrez should have made it 4 in the 93rd minute after a bad Everton's pass found him but he shot wide.
This is the youngest squad by Guardiola in 5 years of managing Manchester City that he put out tonight. He has the resources at his disposal and the congested fixtures would do so little to stop him from winning the title. It's the Premier League and surprises happen, so fingers are crossed.
