Success | The Defining Road
Now when we talk about success, we talk about all the parameters that make one successful. These include believing in ourselves, getting things done, staying positive, and making it a habit. Now, all of these, for sure, are the right things that we should aim for, but then why don’t we? The fact is we do, but we don’t do it often enough.
We can believe in ourselves but do we do it often enough? We can stay positive, but do we do it no matter what? We need to get things done but do we? The idea of making things a habit is to keep doing them often. If not done often, it’s not going to take us anywhere. We get stuck in a yo-yo life that keeps swaying between what we want and what we don’t.
In fact, if we dissect a habit, we conclude that what we do often enough becomes our habit. If that is the case, then success can be a habit. Just keep doing things that lead to success, and then success has to come. Keep succeeding often, and then success becomes a habit.
So, the key is to keep doing the right things often. And doing things often without fail is called being “consistent”. Consistency is the essence of all human traits. We can evolve and change any traits if we can be consistent enough. That’s the deal.
Consistency | A Trait We All Have
We often hear people say that they cannot keep going or, for that matter, are not consistent. But even in that, they are actually consistent. Think about it. They are consistent in not being able to keep going. They are consistent in coming up with excuses – emotional or physical. They are consistent in losing. We need to realize that whether we like it or not, we are all consistent.
Then the question is – are we consistent about the right things? Once we answer that question, we can analyze which side of things we are leaning on. Are we consistent in doing what we want, or is it the opposite? This realization should be sufficient to keep us going.
It is not a coincidence that the word “consistent” rhymes with “persistent”. If we are persistent enough to remain consistent, we will achieve what we set out to achieve. Not only that, if we remain consistent long enough, success is guaranteed. It is not rocket science. The winners did things consistently to reach where they are today. It is something that can be replicated, and we should do it indeed.
Consistency | The Method
One of the things about consistency is that we need to keep going long enough and hard enough. At times, we give in to the chatter in our heads and stop doing the right things. That is where we fail to achieve success.
Let’s take an example to understand consistency—two people of the same height and muscle mass plan to go to the gym every day. Person one goes every day and does his regime consistently. Person two takes a break and remains irregular. Who do we think would have better muscle mass and body strength at the end of the month? I bet it would be person one. The gym example was an easy one, but this is what defines consistency across.
If we take any area of our life and any aspect that we hope to improve, we must consistently pursue doing the right things. The result is inevitable. In the gym example, we have visible proof of the result, but that may not be true in all cases. The trick even then is to stay consistent.
Consistency | The Essence of True Change
If we realize that we already have the trait of being consistent, albeit for what we don’t want, we can try to go the right way. What is the point in spending our time and energy on something we don’t want? Wouldn’t it be prudent to be consistent for the right thing? If we understand this, we are sorted for life. It’s as simple as that.
We shouldn’t fear taking the right steps for what we want. Even if it feels tough, remember that our consistency will take us to a point where it becomes a habit. The greatest gift of God is to make our consistent attempts our habits. Then it is just a matter of doing the right things for twenty-odd days until it becomes a habit. That’s all it takes.
So, be consistent, do consistent, and be successful!! 😊
Remember, the shift from nothingness to awesomeness is quite quick! 😊
