Nelson Mandela was born on 16 July 1918 in the Membu dynasty of Africa. She is known as βMadibaβ in South Africa. The people of the tribe used to call her Madiba. Mandela's father's name was Gadla Henry. Gadla was an important figure in the Membu community. His mother's name is Nosekeni Fanny.
#Education life
When Mandela was 7 years old, his mother took him to a village called Kunu. Mandela began his education at a missionary school in the village of Kunu. After passing the eighth grade, he was admitted to Fort Buffett Heldtown School. After graduating from school, Mandela enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts course at Fort Hare University. He left the University of Fort Hare and received a bachelor's degree in distance learning from the University of South Africa. He then went on to do postgraduate studies in law at the University of Witwatersrand.

Mandela was married three times in his life. His first wife was Evelyn Natoco. After 13 years of marriage, they divorced in 1956. Mandela's second wife is Winnie Madikizela Mandela. The third wife is Grassa Machel. Nelson Mandela is the father of 6 children.
In the beginning, Mandela worked as a guard in a mine. After graduation, he began his career as a lawyer in Johannesburg.
#Leading the struggle against racism
Nelson Mandela's struggling life began while studying at Fort Hare University. At that time he took part in the movement called by the student parliament against the university authorities. He joined the anti-apartheid movement while studying law at the University of Witwatersrand. He led the 1952 non-cooperation movement of the African National Congress. He also played a key role in the 1955 Congress of the People. That conference was the foundation of the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa. In 1981, Nelson Mandela took over the leadership of the ANC's armed wing, the Umkhost We Sieve (MK).
Nelson Mandela was arrested on August 5, 1972 and imprisoned at the Johannesburg Fortress for his fight against apartheid. Instead of being hanged, he was sentenced to life imprisonment on June 12, 1984. He spent the first 18 years of his 27-year sentence on Robben Island. In 1975, Mandela was offered a conditional release, but he refused.
#Gain liberation
South African President FW de Klerk lifted the ban on anti-apartheid groups in 1990. Nelson Mandela was released on February 11 of that year.
