The sad state of smartphone
We all know how technology keeps improving year on year with bigger better things being developed every year.
But the current situation with smartphones now a days is a very sorry thing to behold.
Remember when phones were fun?
There was a time when phones use to be fun, those of you who were old enough to have phones in the early 2000s would remember some capable and crazy design phones.
N-Gage Phone; anybody remember this legend?
Yup, things were different, in a good way, back then.
Problem with phones now-a-days?
Without getting too nostalgic let's jump into the problems that we have with smartphone now a days.
Every year Phone manufacturer release a new phone one after another, but they are not made to last very long.
Why??
So that they can sell you another phone the next year.
I remember the time when Motorola wasn't a Chinese company and not under Lenovo brand, but was its own independent thing.
Those phones were made to last and they would survive through a lot, I had phone that would last 3 years even after all the rough use.
What about progress?
Have you notice how all phones looks almost similar to each other, the same old rectangles that you see very year.
In name of progress they will say that they have the faster chipset.
Faster Chip!
What I am going to do with a phone with 100 MHz more clock speed?
Its all marketing
A Snapdragon 865 from 2 years ago can still run any of the most demanding games that Snapdragon 888+ or even the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 can and that too without any heating issues.
No one is going to notice any 1 or 2 more frames in your fps count with an on display counter.
Furthermore, there aren't even that many high end games on Android, why? Because for the best graphic you go to either your Console or PC.
bottom-line: You don't need it even if you are a professional smartphone gamer.
Missing features?
Smartphones are becoming worst by worst every year.
First they remove the headphone
There was no reason to remove the headphone jack on phone.
If you believe that removing the headphone jack is justified then please do not read this article, don't comment, just please go away. Read something else, watch YouTube, live your lamb's live, this article isn't for you.
The only reason to remove a headphone jack was to sell you more expensive proprietary add-on like pod and bluetooth headphones by removing a option from you.
Still want to use a wired earphone buy an adaptor, more sales more money simple maths.
War on SD Cards
Then they removed the expandable storage so that you can't keep more data
Another way to keep you from using your phone for longer time.
You run out of storage and don't have a way to expand it, you are trapped.
Wake up people.
This is what these manufacturers want to distract us with the things that we don't need to remove the things that you do need.
You don't need wireless charging
You still have to place the phone on the charger, it is not making your life any easier. Also it wastes a lot of energy to charge the phone.
You don't need smaller bezels
A simple line bezel is fine and reducing the size of the bezel it is not going to improve your display or the sensors on the front.
You don't need so much BS
Faster chip
in display camera
in display fingerprint scanner
notch
etc etc
What you need
Better amoled displays
Stereo Speakers
Carrier Aggregation
Fast storage
NFC
eSim
and so much more
My point being
Don't fall for the marketing, don't listen to tech influencer and Youtubers tell you why the latest phone is awesome.
Instead Ask yourself what do you need the phone for and which phone is going give you that in the best price.
Thanks for reading
I noticed upon notso thorough search and compared two different brand phones, samsung and huawie, both has 8/125gb memory, 5500mAh battery, slightly different lcd measurement same 50mP back main camera in quad, 8mp front but had over 40 dollars difference in price. Them im like why is this!? Am I paying for the brand name higher?
Its so clear that merchants do everything fpr money, nothing more.
