As you may already know that Web 3.0 is developing at an staggering pace with new and exciting things in the pipeline.

One piece of Web 3.0 technology that I myself am heavily invested in and believe to be a key element of the Web 3.0 are the decentralized websites hosted on the Blockchain.

I have written about them several times and have given examples of websites that are hosted on blockchain.

But still the number of these websites is still small and honestly are just small games or personal info pages.

That is why I decided to create and host my own website on the Blockchain.

Enter the 'Friday The 13th' Magazine

It is completely built on the blockchain, as it hosted on the IPFS blockchain and using the domain name from the Unstoppable Domains which some of you may have already guessed.

The purpose of this magazine is to showcase some great science fiction and horror stories that are written by upcoming writers. It will have a month schedule that will bring a new issue with fresh stories and a chance of writers to showcase their work.

Further the writers are paid a small amount in BitcoinCash (BCH) if their stories are accepted.

Why did I create this magazine?

Firstly I was inspired by the old American magazine from the golden age of Science-Fiction.

Secondly I wanted to showcase the blockchain technology and the use case of IPFS and the Unstoppable Domains to everyone.

I wanted to create an actual website that has a real purpose and reason for its existence and not just another example that is fun to look at but has no real use to the regular user that may visit that site.

Why Blockchain?

The traditional method of launching a website has a lot of barriers to entry, as the hosting can cost a high recurring fees and a .com domain is very expensive with annual fees that can amount to a lot.

However, getting a domain from Unstoppable Domains is a one time cost as these domains are NFTs on the blockchain that are minted and owned by the individual wallet.

Further, hosting on the IPFS is very easy and requires less hassle than traditional hosting storage, that too at an fraction of a cost.

What's the catch?

Blockchain websites are not without their share of problems, since it is still very early in the space it has some quirks.

Firstly viewing these website requires a few additional steps (but it is mostly a one time set up), which is easily done on the Brave browser but on Chrome requires may additional settings.

To view these website you enter the url into the address bar and you'll be presented with an option to 'Enable support of Unstoppable Domains in Brave' simply click on 'Proceed with Cloudflare server' and it will take care of the rest.

If it doesn't load immediately or gives an error then just reload and wait a few seconds.
