On the day after Gajan, mothers observe the blue vows to wish their children well. According to the puja ritual, they donate the fruits and a little money of the monks of Gajan.

Charak or Jump Charak

Charak Puja is performed on the last day of the month of Chaitra and the festival of Charak Puja lasts for the first two-three days of Boishakh. It is said that it is a unique part of the Gajan festival of the Hindu god Shiva celebrated in the month of Chaitra. Fairs are held at different places of the district centered on this festival which is called as Charak Sankranti Mela.

History of Charak

Charakpuja is mentioned in Govindananda's Varshakriya Kaumudi and Raghunandan's Tititattva, written in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The festival was also popular among the Pashupatinath community in the mythological era. The practice of this ritual among the aristocracy is not very ancient. It is said that in 1475 a king named Sundarananda Tagore first introduced Charak Puja.

However, there are different theories about the origin of this festival. King Ban had a reputation as a Shiva devotee. He also did austerities to please Shiva, and from this source of his devotion to Shiva, the monks of Charak still make ban jumps, various jumps; In this festival, dance with Normand is also seen in some places.

Between 183 and 185, little Beadon stopped this terrible practice. Moreover, all the men and women dressed as Shiva-Parvati used to go out with begging bowls in their hands. They would get a little something by going around all day. In the evening they would take cooked food. Somewhere it has been said that if the indebted farmers at that time were unable to repay their loans, on the last day of Chaitra, they would be tied to a fishing rod and rotated, which existed till 1890.
