In the cultural history of Bengalis 161 AD is written in gold letters. In that year a group of astrologers appeared in the public life of Bengal, who illuminated the surrounding world with their own minds. The list includes poets like Rabindranath, scientists like Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy, eminent physicians like Nilratan Sarkar, literary, archaeologist and historian whom Rabindranath also hailed as one of the top Bengali writers in history. In the second half, Indian inquisitors devoted themselves to writing the history of their homeland. The foundation stone of Indo-Indian history was laid in 184 with the establishment of the Asiatic Society under the leadership of Sir William Jones. Wilson, Kolk, Princep, Cunningham, Maxmারller and others were responsible for building the hammer of rediscovering the glorious oriental civilization and culture on those foundations. It is through their efforts that the glorious India of the past is rediscovered. That past history is no less than that of any Western civilization, this is the first time Indians have realized. But along with this came the emergence of some writers like James Mill, William Ward, Marshman whose imperialist outlook and arrogant writing denigrated Indian civilization and sang the praises of the West. In the belief that the enlightenment of the advanced civilization of the West has signaled the end of the darkness of Eastern India, the arrogant attitude of these writers and the envious attitude towards the local history and culture inspired the Indian Manisha to unveil the true nature of the history of the homeland. In that dawn of national consciousness, Bankimchandra's voice was heard lamenting that 'Bengalis have no history'. His call to the nation - "Let us all explore the history of Bengal together" - touched the heart of the wise man of the uneducated country. A new chapter in the history of Bengali began.
Earlier, people like Neelmani Basak, Kedarnath Dutt, who ignored the inadequacy of the material and carried the responsibility of composing the country's archeology in their own hands, started the trend of studying Bengali history in the hands of Rajendralal Mitra, Haraprasad Shastri. The sincerity of Akshay Kumar's later incarnation of rational historiography, Rakhaldas Bandyopadhyay's archeological research and the factual inquiry into the history of the Jadunath government follow that trend.
Akshay Kumar Maitreya is one of the few people in Bengal who has done justice to his name. Akshay Kumar, son of father Mathuranath Maitreya and mother Saudamini Devi, was born on March 1, 181 in the village of Shimulia under Naopara police station in Kushtia district.
Akshay Kumar's father Mathuranath was the first child of his father Umakanta Maitreya. He lived in Rukmini village of Faridpur. Later, Mathuranath's mother took refuge in Kumarkhali from Rukmini to escape the tyranny of Nilkar. From there Mathuranath and his successors are residents of Kumarkhali. This is also the beginning of the education of the boy Akshay Kumar. At that time Harinath Majumdar, a literary man known as Kangal Harinath, lived in Kumarkhali. Akshay Kumar's father Mathuranath and Harinath were childhood friends. As a child, Akshay Kumar was responsible for the education of Mathuranath-Harinath. The editor of Grambarta Prakashika even named Mathuranath's son after the then famous Akshay Kumar Dutt. At Kumarkhali at this time a Banga-Shiksha Vidyalaya was established at the initiative of Mathuranath, Harinath Majumdar and other personalities where Harinath used to teach. In this school, along with Shivchandra Vidyarnab and Jaldhar Sen, Akshay Kumar also started learning from Harinath. From then on, all three of them were disciples of Harinath. In fact, with the ideals and support of Harinath at that time, the love of literature was transmitted to the hearts of many in Rajshahi. Among them were the eloquent Pandit Shivchandra Vidyarnab, the eloquent Jaldhar Sen, the well-known and rational historian Akshay Kumar Maitreya who was able to put his brilliant signature in the Bengali literary society. It is this poor Harinath who sowed the first seeds of creativity in the fertile literary mind of Akshay Kumar. It was from this guru of his literary path that he received the necessary advice in writing.
