The world, having both the culture and technology has been setting unprecedented records for growth. The recent advances of technology harnessing us to discover what things it has in store such as using gadgets as a way of communication or simply Social Networking Sites.
Social Networking Sites or SNS is designed to widen social relationship among people who shares activities, interest or real life connections. According to a study done recently. 1.4 billion people use it or is active on Facebook. 98% of people ranging from 18-29 years old use it and 11% of the world's population has been using it until now. Approximately 700 billion minutes were spent by the entire Facebook users every month. But what do we gain from it? Has it become a social destruction? Or is it just to connect to one another?
Here are some of the opinions and comments from the learning community.
"It is important in the modern times since there is no barrier when it comes to communication but the problem is that our privacy is being invaded. For example, Facebook and Twitter, you see posts in social networking sites that you think are reliable but it's not. "
" Because of addiction to these sites, the relationship of each members of the family can also be threaten, the children can no longer express their thoughts and problems personally because they spend more time surfing the net. "
" One way to release stress and another way to express the real meaning of a free country and freedom to express. "
" Spending many hours on SNS rather studying can be a real destruction and a time killer. "
" Online bullying could be a product of SNS. Being bullied can be a searing and a tarry experience and in some ways, it can be a big problem than it never was. "
It is perfectly understandable that a variety of people have different views of what SNS is to them. It might be a positive feedback or a negative one.
It is indeed amazing to know an easy access to an instant communication set in front of our eyes. We must have control however, because it can lead to a frightening outcome.
