On March 4, 1953, the test transmissions of Televisión Independiente, S.A. began. Better known as Televisa, Channel 4, it was officially inaugurated on May 30 of that year, although it began to broadcast regularly from June 1, 1953, initially broadcasting from 4 p.m. to 12 p.m. and its headquarters was located at Av La Salle in Colinas de Los Caobos in the city of Caracas, it was the 2nd television channel inaugurated in Venezuela and the first commercial channel. Gonzalo Veloz Mancera is the Founder of Televisa and was also its president, who already had a long experience in creating and founding several radio stations such as Radiodifusora Maracaibo in 1932, Ecos del Caribe in 1934 and Ondas Populares in 1935. Televisa was the first channel to broadcast horse races in August 1953 narrated by Luis Plácido Pisarello and wrestling with Miguel Thodée. It was also the first channel to broadcast a cooking show La Tía María and it was the channel on which Renny Ottolina debuted on TV with a quiz show entitled ¿Qué es su Profesión? Among its children's programming, Bambilandia stands out. In the mid-1960s, Televisa stopped broadcasting due to a heavy economic burden that led to bankruptcy.
