Renaldo José Ottolina Pinto, stage name Renny Ottolina, was born in Valencia, Edo Carabobo on December 11, 1928 and died in a plane accident in Tanaguarena when he was heading from Caracas to Margarita during his electoral campaign as presidential candidate on March 16, 1978. His two most iconic television programs were El Show de Renny and Renny Presenta, although he did much more on radio and television. Renny Ottolina won the affection of the Venezuelan viewer public for his occurrences and his different style of doing television, in his programs he shared and disseminated knowledge. Renny Ottolina No. 1 pioneered a different way of advertising and television in Venezuela, he was a great social communicator with his unique style. Renny Ottolina son of Francisco Ottolina, an Italian immigrant and of the Venezuelan Ana Mercedes Pinto. Her mother died in 1930 when Renny was barely over a year old, being in the care of her paternal grandmother. In 1934, when Renny was six years old, the family moved to Caracas, where he studied elementary school and high school at different educational institutions in Caracas and Los Teques. Renaldo's grandmother (Renny) had a great influence on his interest in social communication, since she was a passionate listener, so Renny listened to a lot of radio in his childhood and adolescent stage. In 1945 when he was just 16 years old, Renny obtained the Speaker Certificate and that same year he ventured into the Radio. He served as an announcer on Radio Caracas and Radiodifusora Venezuela, that same year he had the opportunity to produce his own program entitled La Revista Americana on Radiodifusora Venezuela, shortly afterwards the director of the station fired him for considering that he did not have attitudes and conditions for the radio. Renny Ottolina, a novice announcer from the mid-40s of the last century, is presented with the opportunity to work at the station of the renowned broadcasting businessman Gonzalo Veloz Mancera Radio Cultura producing a radio program entitled Special Nights of Orange Crush (very usual in that time include the name of the sponsor in the title of the program). At the same time, Renny joined Bolívar Films as a news editor and commercial announcer. In 1952, when the era of television was inaugurated in Venezuela, Renny took the first step in this new means of communication by being the announcer-presenter that began Television in Venezuela by participating in the inaugural program of La Televisora Nacional (TVN5). In 1955 he was hired by RCTV, starting on February 28 of that year the interview and variety program Lo de Hoy along with other figures. On November 3, 1958, Radio Caracas Televisión premiered the program El Show de Renny, which would become the preferred program of the majority of the television public for the next 15 years, until 1973 when it stopped broadcasting due to differences in negotiations with the owners or representatives of television channels, who decide to eliminate the figure of the independent producer in a meeting known as the Three Apostles.
