Admit it or not, every one of us living in this generation literally felt the impact of technology in our lives. It made our life easier; it benefits us so much in any aspects and in any field, and it is continuously improving and developing to the point that this became a part of our life. To the point that our days became incomplete without using our gadgets, machines or any kind of product of technology. We can now see how the technology manipulate and change us in many aspects. Instead of controlling technology why does it seems like we are the one being controlled? Why it seems like we are the one who’s changing and not the technology itself?
Obviously nowadays technology do interfere with our real world, with our relationship with the world, others and even ourselves. Even though technology is one of the major thing that helps us to connect and communicate with others anywhere, but are we really able to connect with someone? Yes, for those who are far away from us but how about those who were with us? We are connected but disconnected. We are connected in the virtual world but we are disconnected to the real world. We are not able to make our relationship stronger with our families, friends and to someone who needed us because we’re only focusing on our virtual world. The technology interferes with our relationship with someone. Our old conversation with someone became limited. We are no longer able to express ourselves to someone without using technology. Some of us are now having a hard time to initiate and start a conversation. Those chances that we should have grab to deepen our relationship with someone by having a conversation slips away without us noticing it. We seek for comfort and companionship through our devices. We rely on our devices and technology and turned our back to the real world. Everything is being ignored because of too much attention to our devices.
That’s when people should realize the true essence, the true beauty, importance of strengthening our personal relationship with others. We should put in our minds that we should disconnect to connect. That having a normal conversation with your family or friends throughout the day, or once in a while are much better than spending your time in front of your devices, the happiness that we can feel can’t be compared to anything. If we see our days and situation today, the title said it all, connected but alone, we became lonelier if we continue to connect. It’s still not late to realize these things, it is not too late to still change ourselves and open up a new way and door to our life.
