Money

Remember when you were a kid, and you would either see a shooting star or it would be your birthday and you were about to blow out those candles and get the wish of your dreams.. Majority of the people I've asked this question and myself included would always make that wish about money.

We would have such high hopes in the belief of these wishes that we would wish the same thing for every shooting star or birthday wish, depending on the age and the decade the kid is in the amount would always be different, amounting anywhere from $10 to a billion dollars!

Then as we get older we realize that those wishes were for nothing and that we have to manifest our own futures rather than hope they come to us in a wish.

We also come to realize that we were wishing for that amount of money thinking that would change everything in our lives and that we could live happily ever after like those Disney characters some of us grew up to know.

When in harsh reality we can have that money we wished for, say it be a $1,000,000 and we wouldn't be able to live the rest of our lives off just that single amount of $1,000,000 in todays world. With inflation happening right before our eyes in reality $1,000,000 doesn't get us far into the future unless we make investment decisions with our money in order to yield more money in the long run.

I mean heck I remember my grandfather telling me when I was younger that he'd only have to pay 25 cents to get into a movie theatre to watch a movie. That would get him his ticket, pop and popcorn. 25 CENTS! Keep in mind he also used to work a whole week and only get $7.25 around this time. So remember all that, 25 cents purchased a movie ticket a popcorn and a pop.. Today where I live the minimum wage is $14.35 to $15 an hour, in 40 hour week you would expect (before taxes) $574 to $600 in a week. Todays price of a movie ticket is around $11.99, the pop corn lets say for a regular is $6.00 and a medium pop is $4.50. So with a total of $22.49 a single person in todays world can watch a movie as my grandfather did back in the day.

So lets do the math together and see how much of an inflation difference this is..

$7.25 / .25 = 29 1:29 of my grandfathers weekly income

$574 / $22.49 = 25.52 1:25.5 of todays minimum wage weekly income

Inflation over the years has changed the ratio by an incredible amount, and this is only using the movie theatre as an example..

THINK about everything else in the world that has risen due to inflation, the housing market, the price of a car, the cost of fuel for your car, the cost of electricity/water/gas for being able to live in a home. The cost of food has gone up a substantial amount, the cost of EVERYTHING keeps rising as our wages stay at either same or lower of a ratio compared to the older generations times.

My whole point of this article is, no matter the amount of money (that we think if we had right now), will matter in a few years time because inflation will cause your "retirement" amount to keep increasing and increasing. If anything we should multiply our number by 10 because in 40-50 years time the amount needed to retire will be 10 times your amount that your thinking now.

This obviously isn't the case for the whole population of the earth, some are luckier than most and have tons of financial support from friends and family, some are born into wealth and actually don't ever have to worry about such things. Some of us are smarter than others and realize this consistent system earlier on than most and dedicate their lives to being successful. Then there's the few who aren't as lucky, and this is the group's that inflation really has an effect on. The one's who aren't born into a rich family or neighborhood. The one's who don't have ton's of financial support from friend's or family. They are the one's that have to fight for generation's in order to finally be the successful person their grandparent's wanted to be.

If inflation would just keep an even balance with weekly wages then it wouldn't take generations for someone to be successful. The whole world could work together to help everyone be happier in the long run.

THANK YOU so much for taking the time to read my "Ted Talk" about a topic having to do with the inflation of money. Feel free to leave any comments stating how you feel about inflation and maybe if you have any ideas how the world could fix this problem I'd be glad to read about it :) Hope everyone's staying safe and enjoying the day!
