I guess there is no one who calls himself a PC gamer but has never heard of Warcraft. The Warcraft universe is one of the biggest gifts of Blizzard, which is seen as one of the last strongholds of PC gaming, but unfortunately lost its prestige with the decisions it took in recent years. WoW, which started its journey as an RTS, evolved into an MMORPG and continued to be actively played by millions of people for more than 15 years, also forgot its RTS ancestor.

Warcraft 3, which gave birth to a huge new genre with its editor, announced that it would appear again at BlizzCon in recent years. I was very excited to be able to play Warcraft 3, which has deep traces in my childhood, once again, with modern graphics. When we say come and go, finally our game was released on January 28 under the name Warcraft III: Reforged. I took a quick dive into the production that I have been waiting for a long time. However, let me state from the beginning, I will not examine the game from scratch, I will only concentrate on its renewed aspects.
Now, first of all, it is necessary to remember what Blizzard has promised for Warcraft 3: Reforged since its announcement. In the announcement of the game, improved graphics, improved cutscene cinematics, modern online infrastructure, and improved editor were at the top of the promises. Undoubtedly, one of the most exciting situations for the players was the graphics. Likewise, although the gameplay challenged time, our legend had aged graphically. After Blizzard's official announcement, we were excited to see Warcraft 3, at least in Starcraft 2 quality.
In the gameplay footage released for the game, we especially appreciated the details in the units, but the environmental visuals and especially the lack of detail of the floor did not look much different from the original. The Blizzard side, on the other hand, stated that they are aware of the situation and will continue to develop it. When I said come and go, unfortunately, it saddened me to see that the ground graphics did not improve at all at the exit of the game. In addition, the fact that almost no improvements were made to the general lighting of the game was an indicator of Blizzard's laziness. Likewise, without spoiling the original atmosphere, a little more dynamic lighting could make the game look much nicer and give the right to the name Reforged.
Another promise of Warcraft III: Reforged was improved cutscene cinematics. This situation, which especially excited young WoW players to fully understand the history of Warcraft, caused a WoW player to give Warcraft 3: Reforged a chance. Unfortunately, Blizzard didn't keep their word on cutscenes either. Blizzard, who has completely renewed the intro, has passed the other cutscenes during the story without touching it. However, this was not the promise he made during the promotion. In this regard, the production disappointed me and Warcraft fans.
Another important promise of the production was the modern online infrastructure. The online section, which will have a modern infrastructure with Warcraft III: Reforged, was unfortunately again under the shadow of mistakes. Reddit and the forums were full of error messages, while constantly dropping from the game, balancing problems, lag problems. Blizzard, on the other hand, tried to prevent the problems by making a big update, but it could not prevent the fuss on the internet. In addition, the fact that features such as automatic championship creation in the first game were removed, angered the players.
Another promise of the game was the editor mode, which can be considered the most important part of the game. Improvements were indeed made in this mode, allowing players to create new games on Warcraft III: Reforged. Likewise, the MOBA genre itself was born from DOTA, which was developed on the editor of Warcraft 3. However, Blizzard has not forgotten what happened with DOTA, and announced that the intellectual property rights of all mods developed on Warcraft III: Reforged will remain with Blizzard. This situation led to almost protest in the forums and made the players revolt. Stating that this situation would discourage popular developers, the players showered Blizzard with criticism.
Long story short, Warcraft III: Reforged stands before us as a version that is well below expectations in general terms. There was a general disappointment due to the lack of improved graphics, the lack of promises for the cutscenes, technical errors, removed features and the rights in the editor mod remained with Blizzard. Although Blizzard said that the problems will be resolved and the game will continue to develop, the fact that a remaster project took 2 years and the result was like this seems to have broken the trust of the players.
