"They," say that remoras stick themselves to other sea creatures just to get a free ride. I am guessing that they are lazy fish or maybe they are smart. If I was a fish and had to spend my life swimming, I would like to have a way to stick myself to another fish and let them do the swimming. https://noiseapp.b-cdn.net/myjob/235652c576277a51add8edfd79aae531.jpg I only caught 9 pompano today and my husband caught 9, we weighed them together and had a total of 45 pounds.

When I buy a pineapple I twist the top off of it and lay it in the kitchen window for a few days then plant it. https://noiseapp.b-cdn.net/myjob/ba472f0dd31664e4cea11ad36e7d677b.jpg Once it grows a new pineapple, I twist the entire thing from the mother plant. We had a plant nursery and have never seen this plant. My husband's daughter worked in landscaping so we had her look at it and she had never seen it. After searching for plants online my sister-in-law found that it is a Chinese crown orchid and until 2007 they did not exist in Florida. Now I have 3 that I have found, I am betting there are more of them. I have no clue as to how it came to be in my yard, but they are here. It has a slender stem growing from it with tiny flowers.

They are paying 6 dollars a pound for them. My husband only caught 2 fish yesterday so he said he was not going today, now he wishes that he would have gone. It proves what I always say, you can not let a bad day stop you from going the next day.

I drove 55 miles looking at every beach that I came to and never saw the first sandflea. https://noiseapp.b-cdn.net/myjob/cf8496d9d78afb6e4b57042092720a08.jpg This time of year, they should be thick on the beaches, but since the state started pumping sand on it, the sandfleas have drastically declined. https://noiseapp.b-cdn.net/myjob/82a466ef598207d8a3fffd02e21d2274.jpg When we get a storm, the sand that they pumped washes away and they pump more. The sand that washes away is covering the reefs, killing them. The state only cares about having beautiful beaches for the tourists, the tourists can not see the reefs. Out of sight, out of mind should be Florida's motto.

I am new to Noise and would like to tell you about myself. My husband and I are commercial fishermen, we have been married for going on 37 years, and we have been together for 41. This is when I started fishing with him. Even though I am a 3rd generation commercial fisherman I had never fished commercially until I met my husband. I had fished with him for 5 years when he had to go to the west coast for a fisheries meeting, he told me to take the boat and catch jacks. I did not want to do it because he had always driven the boat and set the net around the fish. I was scared, but I did it. My first catch was 1,500 pounds of jacks. I was hooked, and it did not take long for me to have my own boat. We raised 5 kids by fishing the river and when the state of Florida passed the net ban, we had to do something else to stay self-employed so we started growing clams then in 2004 the entire eco-system in the river crashed killing fish clams, oysters, birds, manatees, and dolphins. We lost 50 thousand dollars worth of clams. We had to go back to fishing but found that we could not make a living by just fishing. So we started a plant nursery and grew all types of plants. I would post signs saying plant and yard sales. My husband said the yard sale was "chum" to get the people to stop and look, in turn, they would buy plants. We did this for 5 or 6 years until it got to be too much on us so we stopped the yard sale and only sold plants. Now the river has somewhat came back and our kids are all grown and out of the house so we only grow areca palms and fish. The one thing that has saved us is neither of us buys on credit. We only have basic bills, lights, internet, car insurance, and property taxes. Our home is paid for our trucks are paid for, even though they are old, they still get us to where we need to go and back home. I am proud that we are not swimming in debt. We did it by being determined not to live that way and it worked.
