About poems and poetry — basic differences.

poem is a piece of literary work whereas poetry is an art form. Poem and poetry are inclined to each other. But there is a slight difference between them.

A poem is the arrangement of words that contain meaning and musical elements. In just a few words, a poem can say a lot. A poem can be epic, narrative, dramatic, or lyrical. The poem is where the author explains his dream, imagination, life, pain, happiness, sorrow through magical words. A poem can be rhyming and non-rhyming, simple, or complex.

“He who knows poem is a versifier, not a poet”

A poetry is classical flow of words that explain and encrypt what’s on the mind of the poet and make it feel the reader, in the same way, the poet images. Poetry is the use of words and language to evoke a writer’s feelings and thoughts. Poetry uses words and speech in rhetoric, drama, song, and comedy. In poetry, you can see symbolism, metaphor, simile, metonymy, irony, and ambiguity.

A potter makes various kinds of pots. The pottery is considered to be an art of making pots. Similarly, a poet composes poems and the art of making these poems is known as poetry.
