There are times when HR finally decided and pick the best candidates because of their Great Resume, Enthusiasm, personality, and skill that the company's looking for. and after a few weeks, You just found out that something’s not quite right.
Your new employee isn’t meshing with coworkers, and her performance is lackluster at best. And those skills? Turns out, her level of proficiency isn’t as advanced as you initially thought, and other employees are having to pick up the slack. Instead of solving problems, your new employee is the problem.

Here are 4 steps to recover from a bad hiring decision:

1.Determine why it's a bad hire

You have to identify first the reason why?
Did the employee are lack ability and knowledge? or ask yourself if you just rushed the hiring decision and jumped to a conclusion.
Once you found out the reason, you are now able to fix the problem before taking an unnecessary action or termination.

2. Consider Reassignment

Consider also the reassignment especially if the employees are a team player and hardworking I'm really sure they can adapt more, maybe there's a piece of software or process that surely confused them take time to analyze and identify their strengths and weaknesses for the second time.

In addition to the performance improvement plan, make sure to document all coaching and progress discussions, as well as disciplinary actions. These documents show that you’ve made an effort to help your employee be successful, and may help decrease legal liability for your company.

3. Avoid future Bad hires

It's normal to face some mistakes like this but you just need to learn from them and applied it for your improvement.

Improve the process when it comes to recruitment. Make sure to discuss the Job description with all job candidates and cleared it out, make them ask you and curios about the post
Emphasized the skills that the company needs and really suits the company's rules and values.

4. Know when to throw the towel

If the employees are totally savaged, If you observed them unethical It is time for you to cut out and stop the losses.

Observes these kinds of employees especially the personalities

  • If the employee is excellent but a terrible team player

  • The employee misrepresented his/her skills

  • The employee shows disrespect and lack of commitment

  • The employee did not follow the policies and regulations of the organization

Acknowledging you’ve made a bad hire is a painful realization. But if you act wisely, and quickly, you can make the best of a bad situation and avoid making future hiring blunders
