Hey guys, hope everyone had great day. I am trying to be more regular here, and am I slowely getting my habit back, but it's not constant yet. Today I planned to visit one of the popular Green markets in Belgrade - "Kalenic pijaca". This market is the biggest and probably most popular market in Belgrade, and takes name after last name of Vlajko Kalenic, whose endowment it is. In 2026. it will be 100 years old.

I went there this morning, in attempt to avoid strong sun and high temperatures, but also because the most and the best products are there in the morning, and then less and less through out the day. On the way there, I saw many beautiful may roses, it's wonderful to see them all around, even in the big city.

In this green market, even tough veggies and fruits are main, you can find many other things there such as cheese and eggs, and other daily used ingredients. They are sold in the front part, and behind there are counters with vegetables and fruits. Also, there are many flowers sold, whether it's for vase or in the pot, and they caught my attention the most. I debated in myself weather should I buy basil so that I have fresh seasoning, but I decided it's not the time.

Other interesting thing about this market is that there is part of it that is flea market. I hope translator is doing good job here, but basically it's market where you can find anything and nothing, many interesting old things, antiques and unique.

I was there mostly for the vegetables and fruits. Furthermore, I ended up buying a lot of goodies (lettuce, carrot, young baby potatoes, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumber, bananas, oranges,strawberry...) but I was also not happy with most of the prices, inflation is going crazy here. I also bought some nuts and dry fruits, since there was one big counter with all of them. I usually buy dry graps and cranberries, almonds, indian nut, and I brought from home hazelnuts and walnuts.

Reason why I would like to recommend anyone green markets is because you will get better products than in supermarkets, and also you will help people who live of selling these goodies from their household. If you know someone personally, it's even better because you are sure you are getting home healthy product.

I went back with bus, even though it's only few stations, because it was way too warm for me, and I had to carry few pounds of stull I bought.

This is why I prefer living in smaller cities, and near village side. Then you know where exactly products come from and are they good. And not to even mention import and what stories I heard about those products. Full of chemicals.
