Football derby

Last weekend, as I already wrote, my brother came to visit. The main reason for his visit was the football derby, that happened on Saturday. I am a big fan of Red Star, but I don't usually go to derby. In fact, this was only my second time to go. Reasons are various, but mostly. But basically, the main problem that I have with football here in general are not fans, but hooligans, who are just using football (or other sport) to make fight. I don't think they even deserve more words.

But I love sports, and I love to go to watch it live. And this was my brother first time to watch it live. The match was part of the play-off, of our national league. Match was on stadium of my team, so I felt more comfortable because I was there many times. Funny thing is that my brother is a fan of the opposite team then I am. This is the reason why we didn't go to south (his team fans) or north (my team fans), but to "neutral" zone. This also wasn't bad at all, because we could see the game well, but also north and south, and how they cheer and choreography. We also didn't take any marks, just in case.

North part and Red Star fans

Since it's a high risk game, there were cops in many parts of the city, but also most of them were on the game itself. Many people come to the game, so they are around the city to maintain not only peace, but also traffic. Usually I see the ones with horses, but I didn't see them this time.

On the last photo, you can also see how fans of the opposite club are separated from other side. Main choreography was on almost the entire stadium, and it was saying "But better than..." which is part of the song, ad it was dedicated to opposite team fans. Meaning it's better for their team to take championship, then the opposite team.

Pyrotechnics are not allowed, but they are present in general, and if you go to the derby, for sure, there will be pyrotechnics. Torches mostly, smoke, but my team do fireworks also. This time it was very pretty, and I wish I could share video of it, so you can see better, but I will share a photo of it at last.

Although there were so many people, cheering, fireworks, choreography,... there was not too much good football, unfortunately. Game ended with even score, 0:0, and none of the teams didn't show the best play. However, I am glad I went with my brother. Derby is unique and exciting experience, of course, not for everyone, but people that love such things.
