Eating healthy doesn't have to be difficult or boring. To prove it, our team of talented registered dietitian nutritionists at Henry Ford Health routinely develops recipes that are full of nutritional value and great taste. They write instructions that are clear and easy to follow, and focus on ingredients that are not too expensive or hard to find. Then, they test them, tweak them and test them again until they get a final recipe that's just right. They meticulously calculate the nutritional information, so that if you are watching your sodium intake or counting calories, you'll have all the details you need when you prepare one of these recipes.

Finally, to make it easy for any home cook to follow each recipe, our team films them being made and photographs the results. It's a labor of love (and lots of good leftovers!) that we're proud to share here. (Also, special thanks to our partner Kroger, where we do our grocery shopping.)

As 2019 comes to a close, check out the most popular recipes that we produced this year. Trends included recipes for people following a plant-based diet, quick and easy dinners (especially one-pot or one-pan meals), and homemade versions of takeout favorites or foods that might be highly processed if bought at the store.

Cauliflower Black Bean Tacos

Cauliflower is gaining in popularity and it may be due to its incredible versatility. Here, we're celebrating the way cauliflower can take on bold, spicy flavors and serve as a satisfying vegetarian taco filling. We’ve combined it with black beans for protein, vibrant shredded red cabbage for crunch and a delicious lime crema to cool it all down.

Sheet-Pan Chicken Fajitas

These delicious, easy-to-make fajitas can be on the table in under 20 minutes. Really! Lean chicken breast, lots of veggies and whole-grain tortillas make it the perfect healthy weeknight dinner. Better yet, this one-pan meal makes clean-up a snap.

Mint Chocolate Chip Energy Bars

Want a tasty snack bar to eat on the go? Rather than choosing a storebought bar full of unrecognizable ingredients, added sugar or a hefty pricetag, make your own healthy energy bars at home. These minty, chocolately bars are perfect for a snack or to fuel up after a workout.

Canned Pumpkin 3 Ways

Are you one of those people who can't wait until "Pumpkin Spice season" every year? We've got healthy recipes that use this seasonal favorite in ways that have nothing to do with pie. Stock up on some cans and whip up a delicious sweet and savory soup, a creamy dessert or snack dip, or a totally unique pasta sauce.

Mushroom Meatloaf

If you're trying to eat less red meat but aren't ready to give it up completely, this recipe is a great compromise. We replaced half of the ground beef with minced Portabella mushrooms, which adds key minerals and drastically cuts down on fat and calories per serving.

We also collected the most popular recipes from last year (which have only grown in popularity since) or you can browse all of our recipe videos.

Cheers to another year of great food and healthy choices!
