Gamla Stan, Old Town of Stockholm - 08312022
Sightseeing in Stockholm Old TownThere is nothing special to do, but when I have something to do in the city, I try to stop by Gamla Stan, the old town. This area, with many buildings dating back to the 15th century, is Stockholm's most popular tourist attraction. The center of the medieval city is said to have been the regular market and the church built in the center of town. The square where the market was held is said to have been smaller than the present one, and was expanded by a fire in the early 15th century to become the current public square, Stortorget (Big Square). The square is flanked on the south by the Stockholm Stock Exchange (now the Academy Awards Museum) and Stockholm Cathedral. In the center of Gamla Stan is Stortorget Square, where the Stockholm Stock Exchange (now the Nobel Museum) and old trading houses stand around the square. The square was the scene of the Stockholm Bloodbath of November 1520, in which many Swedish nobles were massacred.Stockholm

With the complete removal of the Corona restrictions, tourists have returned to Stockholm City and the town is slowly coming back to life. When you go to Gamla Stan, you can hear many different foreign languages. Latin languages, Slavic languages, and Asian languages are also often heard these days. Unfortunately, the number of tourists from Japan has not recovered. I feel that it would be nice if tourists from Japan would come soon and cultural exchange between Sweden and Japan would resume.
