You may have already read about the cinnamon diet. This popular diet, just like many others, has long been the subject of various debates. While some think it has no effect, others talk about the fantastic results achieved within a week or two. You will also come across the fact that the results can only be seen after three or even six months.
Ignore the numbers they offer you, but pay attention to the beneficial effects of cinnamon on the body - because health is more important than numbers.
What does the cinnamon diet look like?
The instructions for following this diet are simple: Twice a day, in the morning and before bed, drink a decilitre and a half of the drink, or tea with honey and cinnamon. For one drink, which you can drink hot or cold, you need:
3 decilitres of water,
half a teaspoon of cinnamon and
one tablespoon of honey.
Boil water and add cinnamon. Only when it becomes lukewarm, stir in the honey, so as not to lose its healing properties in boiling water. If desired, add lemon. Diet does not mention changing your habits, but with physical activity and discipline in your diet you will achieve faster and more sustainable results.
Also, as part of your diet, you can add cinnamon to your meals, but caution is needed when choosing the type and amount of cinnamon. Cinnamon, in addition to going great with desserts, caffeinated beverages, cereals, yogurt, apples or pancakes, can also be found in main dishes, such as goulash and beef dishes.
Beneficial effect of cinnamon on the body
Cinnamon is a powerful antioxidant that helps fight stress and thus can affect blood cortisol levels which affects blood sugar levels, feeling full and immune. Apart from being, therefore, good for diabetics, it also:
lowers bad cholesterol and fats in the body,
has a fungicidal effect, destroys fungi and prevents their growth,

positively affects brain function and concentration.
What is coumarin and how does it work?
Speaking of cinnamon and the possible harmfulness of consuming it in large quantities, we are talking about coumarin. This ingredient can lead to kidney and liver damage as well as blood thinning and other health problems that include nervous system problems. More than half a teaspoon of cinnamon a day is usually not recommended.
The best kind of cinnamon
Some sources recommend trying different cinnamons in your diet, but it is very important to know the types that are medicinal. Namely, Ceylon cinnamon originating from Sri Lanka is the best choice for a weight loss program. It contains low levels of coumarin. On the other hand, cassia or Chinese cinnamon from Burma contains high levels of coumarin.
Unfortunately, the cinnamon we find in stores is most often cassia. Although it is acceptable for occasional use, if you intend to consume cinnamon daily, make it Ceylon. The smell of cinnamon, the smell of the holidays can also become the smell of your good mood and health.
