Alcohol ... so common and well-known addiction. It looks like prison bugs, chains! how many are so powerless today to be free from this evil. how many of them sigh in vain because they have no freedom. one such, already in serious years, has completely destroyed and devalued himself. his wife left him because she could no longer bear to live with such a man. he lost the posap and no new one could keep it. all his friends left him ... just no one could stand him anymore. that alcohol is an evil spirit that eats away at all lovely relationships. nothing was sacred to this man anymore. it all came down to a bottle of osd that depended on him in an empty room with a miserable mattress. today's verse refers to him and others like him. chained in darkness . but the great God knew us well what he was in. he sent him a man who took pity on him. he pulled him out of the lair and took him to a Christian addiction treatment center. only there could he see how deep he had fallen, how miserable how much evil and despair he had inflicted on himself and others.
