Something about kittens
When they are born, kittens weigh 85-110 g.
With proper nutrition and digestion, kittens initially increase their weight by about 100 grams per week, which means that they should weigh almost half a kilogram at one month. Kittens should continue to gain weight, at a rate of about half a kilogram per month until the age of 6 months.
Kittens should eat every few hours
If you are feeding kittens on a pacifier, they should be placed with their stomachs down (not on their backs) to reduce the risk of inhaling milk. Kittens can start switching to solid foods at about a month of age. During the pacifier feeding period, it is necessary to gently massage their bellies (in the direction from the breast to the tail, as the mother would lick them). Gentle massage is needed to stimulate intestinal transit and excretion of urine and feces. This is EXTREMELY important because constipation longer than 24 hours can easily lead to death.
Kittens that do not get enough food may have insufficient blood sugar, which directly endangers their lives. Hypoglycemia is a great danger for small kittens, especially if they do not have a mother and are fed with substitute milk.
Kittens start playing at one month of age
By the second week of life, kittens will be able to stand on their feet, and by the third week, they will be able to walk unsteadily. At one month, they will begin to show the playful behavior characteristic of kittens. Kittens usually learn the basics of behavior during the second month of life. Brothers and sisters from the litter let each other know where the boundaries of the game are.
Kittens completely stop suckling at two months of age
If they have a mother, she successfully weans her young from sucking. In addition, it is important that kittens in this crucial period of life are with their mother and other kittens from the litter for proper socialization. When a kitten separates from its mother and lays prematurely, it is deprived of many important social abilities that it will need later in life.
With a little care, growing kittens in front of your eyes will be a real miracle - especially if you saved them! :)
