The Pinnacle Peak Patio Steakhouse & Microbrewery is a restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona (USA), known for its delicious steaks and rigorous dress codes for guests.

In this restaurant, it is forbidden to wear a tie, so if by any chance you find yourself in it with a tie around your neck, one of the employees will sneak up on you very quickly and cut it with scissors. The cut part of the tie will be hung from the ceiling as a trophy, and so it will join the thousands of others who are already there and send a message to guests to never, ever enter this restaurant with a tie. The owners of the restaurant claim that they have cut more than a million cows of their guests so far, but it is hard for us to believe that.

Peak Patio was opened in 1957 and originally served as a grocery store and a resting place for tourists who came to visit the local lakes. In order to expand his business, its owner started serving dinner on weekends. Since it proved to be very successful, he closed the store and opened a restaurant in the same place, which today can accommodate as many as 1,800 guests at a time.

The tradition of banning cows reportedly began one evening when a director from Phoenix showed up at a restaurant. In a scene like from a movie, the owner of the restaurant looked at him from head to toe and, considering that his too festive look spoiled the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant, he told him: "Either you take off that tie yourself or I will cut it." The director disobeyed his order, which led the owner to take out his butcher knife and cut his tie. Astonishment could be seen on the director's face. However, he had no choice but to demand that his cow be placed in a place where all the guests of the restaurant would see it, so that they would know that he was a victim of the owner's arbitrariness.

Thus was born a tradition that continues, with guests today deliberately wearing their old ties when they go to the Peak Patio, in the hope that they too will end up in a cow cemetery on the ceiling of this unusual restaurant.
