The Road to Taking a Decent Photo of the Night Sky

They say that in order to take photos of the stars it must be taken in areas with a minimal amount of light pollution as it hinders the brightness of the stars and their potential of shining in your photographs, when taking photos of the night sky darkness is your greatest ally. Living in the city makes things more difficult as it is the number one source light pollution however it is quite fortunate that we live within the outskirts of the city although that doesn't guarantee the freedom of light pollution, there still exists a handful of artificial light in the neighborhood but not as bright as the densely populated areas.

The sun has set and the sky is gradually getting darker the stars are beholding themselves slowly and finally the night sky was filled with stars together with the moon glistening but though it was a very beautiful sight to see in person, this was something the camera couldn't handle. The lights outside the house were turned off making the entire surroundings dark and spine-chilling but the sky was then began to shine. Clouds began to shroud the sky making it more appealing.

Though it looks great this was not the desired result. While taking a photo of the moon more clouds began to blanket the sky moving over the moon which resulted to this photo

It was quite unfortunate that one of the electrical wires got in the way of the photo. This was the result of using a low shutter speed which captured the movements of the clouds giving it that rippling effect. The sky was then completely covered with clouds putting an end to the first night of taking photos of the night sky.

After that I began to research more about taking photos of the night sky and what settings were most appropriate for the lens that was used and from what I read in order to take photos of the stars it had to be on a night wherein the moon is not present as it is also considered a factor of light pollution belonging to the category of natural light. Every night I checked whether the moon was up on the sky waiting for the opportunity to take photos of the stars but unfortunately the moon began to shine even brighter than ever.

The pictures of the moon were quite satisfying but the main goal was to get pictures of the stars so the wait was still to continue. Weeks have passed and the weather here was becoming very unpleasant it was just rainfall day after day and finally, arrived the desired night. The moon was yet to rise but the stars were all over the sky I had to take this opportunity though there was a sum amount of clouds. The camera was set I applied everything I learned over the internet and took the shot.

Upon checking the photos I took I was astonished, some stars that showed up in the picture were not even visible to the naked eye and even a glimpse of the Milky Way can be seen. After seeing those photos I became eager to take more that would even look more appealing and that determination resulted into this photo.

This is absolutely one of the best photos I have ever taken I was utterly pleased with the results it was definitely worthwhile, this concludes the journey and thank you for reading
