Dr. Micheal Oladiran is a Nigerian medical doctor who practices medicine in Australia. When he moved to Australia, He became a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners in Australia in 2016.
Having worked in the geriatric rotation for about 4 years, he knew and understood what it means and what it's like to care for the elderly. While talking at the "social prescribing" program, a program sponsored by North-Western Melbourne primary health network, Dr. Micheal remarked- “We see many patients with social isolation and social issues, and medically we cannot really set up for that…it's always good to have that social linkage for them so that their social needs are met, and at the same time we meet their clinical needs as well”. The main purpose of this network is to socially cater to people, especially older people.
The results of the program have been excellently positive. After receiving clinical care, the patients now have a way of making their social lives better. Those elderly patients who were usually bitter while receiving clinical care have become warmer and happier after being a part of the program. These results make Dr. Michael and his team members happy and encouraged as they witness the positive transformation experienced by these older patients who now seem to have a life.
However, that he is passionate about aged care and skin cancer may make some people think that those are his only specialties or area of interest he nurses. However, he is not all about geriatrics and skin cancer, he has other areas he nurses special interest in. He is peculiarly interested in mental conditions, geriatrics(aged care), benign and malignant skin lesions, and chronic disease. He is presently also involved in research topics, especially those relating to skin cancer.
