This week's battle challenge focuses on the Water Elemental:

The more skilled summoners of ΛZMΛRÉ can summon water in its Elemental form. After the Water Elemental completes its summoned duty, it simply goes free. Most of them recede into the deeper reaches of the Dark Water, joining the Elemental Hordes of the Deep.

Card Details

An Alpha/Beta rare rarity monster from the Water Splinter at level 5:

  • Estimated cost: $5

  • Mana cost: 5

  • Range attack: 3

  • Speed: 5

  • Health: 6

  • Flying ability: Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks.

  • Heal ability: Restores a portion of the monsters health each round.

Decent range damage - check. Good speed - check. Good health - check. Decent mana cost - check. Healing ability - check. Not expensive - check. If you are not starting to see how good the Water Elemental is, you are missing out. In Water Splinters battles, I often use the Water Elemental paired with some other potent healers from the Water Splinter. The healing ability is essential as it allows the Water Elemental to survive a couple of more rounds, especially when it's up against sneak or snipe ability monsters.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My initial thoughts when I saw my opponents higher level monsters, that I wasn't going to stand a chance, but I was proved wrong. This battle showcased the importance of heal. If the Water Elemental weren't able to heal itself, it would've indeed been taken out by the opponent's Sabre Shark. The Mermaid Healer's triage ability and the Crustacean King tank heal ability were essential to keep critical friendly monsters alive during the battle. The Water Elemental played a pivotal role in this battle and landed a few killing blows, resulting in me being chuff with a victory against a more superior opponent.

Do you like the Water Elemental? Why or why not?

Wholeheartedly yes! The Water Elemental is an excellent monster card that should be part of your Water Splinter deck. You can also pick it up for a reasonable price, and even at level 1 it can be a useful addition to your monster lineup. Paired with other awesome healers in the Water Splinter - will open you to multiple different strategies such as double heal or triple heal.
