Up To Eleven Ruleset Battle Mage Secrets | Splinterlands #327
This week's battle mage secrets focuses on the Up To Eleven Ruleset.
Ruleset Details
The Up to Eleven ruleset provides all monsters with the Amplify ability. The Amplify is a great ability as it amps up the following abilities Magic Reflect, Thorns and Return Fire by increasing their damage output to all enemy monsters by one. This means, for example, Thorns will return 2 damage to enemy monsters in this ruleset. The same applies to Magic Reflect and Return Fire. Therefore, the player must determine whether they want to capitalize on this increased damage amplification and wear down the opposition with the reflect damage or ignore it. Another consideration is that there are few monsters and summoners with the Amplify ability, so if you are unable to afford Grandmaster Rathe, this ruleset offers you the opportunity to play with this ability.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
I know every one of late is all about the fancy new Rebellion set and how those new cards may change the meta in splinterlands, but damn this battle showcases why you shouldn't ignore the old cards in splinterlands. The Up To Eleven ruleset is perfect with my favorite splinterlands card and provides it with an opportunity to flex why it is still to this day, an overpowered and amazing card -- Lord Arianthus. Now you may be thinking, but man, Lord Arianthus is a no-attack card -- he will be destroyed, but with the Amplify ability, Lord Arianthus was reflecting up to three melee damage (!!!). It was ably supported by the backline with the range damage, armor and speed buffs and this battle was over in four rounds with minimal fuss.
Do You Like the Up To Eleven Ruleset? Why or Why Not?
Any ruleset or ability that allows my favorite splinterlands card, Lord Arianthus, to be even more overpowered is a win in my book. Imagine pairing Grandmaster Rathe and Lord Arianthus as the increased damage on the reflect damage for Thorns, Magic Reflect and Return Fire makes Lord Arianthus even more fun to use. The one challenge with the ruleset is overthinking involved in trying to determine whether the opponent is going to ignore the ruleset or capitalize on its advantages. But that is the beauty of splinterlands, every battle offers an opportunity where you to flex your strategic and creative approach to outsmart the opposition and secure those sweet daily rewards.
