With the holiday season approaching, everybody plans to take time off for their annual vacations. However, with the inflation rate going up, everything, including the holidays, has become costly. However, this doesn’t mean you must do away with your vacations. Here are some tips for having an economical yet enjoyable vacation.

Covid-19 Travel requirements

Whether you are traveling internationally or locally within your country for the upcoming holiday season, it’s best to visit the country (you are traveling to) government websites to find out the latest regulations surrounding the requirements for Covid-19. Some countries still require PCR tests to enter/exit the country, so best to plan and factor these costs into your travel plans.

Start planning well in advance.

If you plan to go on a vacation in December, it is advisable to start planning your trip right in March. This will help you get the best deals on hotel bookings, train/air tickets, and visa processing if needed. Also, you won’t have to run around to make the arrangements at the last minute, thus inadvertently settling for any available tour package.

Use travel cards.

These cards will simplify your life when traveling by letting you pay for your hotels, purchases, etc. Moreover, as these cards are pre-paid, they are not affected by the fluctuations in the exchange rate, as is familiar with regular debit/credit cards, where the exchange rate varies daily.

Buy travel insurance.

It is controversial as many would not opt for this as it can save you a few bucks, but some travel insurance pays your hospital bills if you fall ill on your travel. Similarly, if you lose your bags while traveling, you can get reimbursement for the loss of bags. This will ensure you are not inconvenienced during your trip.

Select the hotels with a lower rating.

These hotels usually offer you all the amenities at economical rates. You may not get the 5-star treatment, but hotels with 3-star ratings are still okay, mainly if you only use the rooms for boarding and lodging, as you will be out most of the day exploring and vacationing.

With these tips, you can get a great trip on a budget.
