This week’s battle mage secrets focuses on the Stampede Ruleset.

Ruleset Details

The Stampede ruleset gives all monsters with the Trample ability the ability to continuously trigger as long as the trampling monster keeps mowing down other monsters. The thing that I have re-learned is the interaction of the Trample ability with other abilities. For example, when a monster with Trample defeats a resurrected monster, it will advance to the next month and therefore continue the chain of damage. Another example is when a monster is killed by the Retaliate ability, the Trample ability will proc again. I would read through this excellent guide on the splinterlands support site to fully understand all the nuanced ways that the Trample ability can interact with other abilities.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

In the splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge post, there was a special mention of the Possibilus the Wise being a perfect use case of the Stampede ruleset. This battle could not have been set up more perfectly; trio of rulesets (Stampede, Explosive Weaponry, Fire & Regret), Possibilus the Wise which will give all monsters the Trample and Reach ability plus additional health. Unfortunately, I came up against an opponent who hit harder and faster – 21 total damage. Sadly, I did not even get close to triggering the Trample ability / Stampede ruleset which was disappointing. I should not have led with the Diemonshark as a glass cannon from the front. Nonetheless, back to the drawing board for me!

Do You Like the Stampede Ruleset? Why or Why Not?

The Trample ability is an ability that not many monsters have access to. Only two monsters have the Trample ability at level one: Diemonshark and Desert Dragon. For players playing in Gold and Diamond III and therefore playing with higher levelled monsters, the list does expand to seven monsters, which is still a small set of monsters considering the number of monster cards available in the splinterlands ecosystem. So, the ruleset can aid that small list of monsters to be extremely powerful and therefore set off a chain of devastating attacks. Also, in the research for this ruleset, some people have mentioned achieving that elusive infinite Trample in battle, but I could not find examples of that, nor have I experienced this so comment down below if you have experienced the infinite Trample in battle.
