We started to see more and more information come out about the gameplay of the Land 1.5 release as the game mode has been released to the Mavs server for testing. The feedback has been relatively positive with some saying there is a complex layer of complexity involved.

From what I have read, the Land 1.5 release will provide the player so many choices from producing grain and researching, to mining SPS, to balancing the impact of taxes when claiming resources. From the recent town square, there are bugs still being ironed out and there is a lot of feedback being taken into account from the community. There was also mention that once the Land 1.5 release is released, work will resume/continue on the Land 2.0 whitepaper and outline the future of the game. I hope the new game mode (Land 1.5) UI will be intuitive to guide players as to whether they should prioritize resource production, SPS mining, or research.

Another important item discussed during the town square was the issue of card inflation resulting from new card sets. The team stressed that card value isn't one-size-fits-all; each card has its niche in the game, shaped by rules, leagues, and abilities. Older cards remain valuable within their contexts, and the splinterlands team is dedicated to preserving their worth through mechanisms like staking and new game modes. As someone who did a 1k pack opening challenge for the Chaos Legion set, and seeing the price of Chaos Legion continuing to decline in this 500+ day crypto bear market, I hope the splinterlands team does divert dedicated attention and effort towards finding utility for the older sets. I know the Land 1.5 release has taken up a lot of effort and time, so it would be good to see some dedicated and transparent efforts to ensure and provide card utility to older card sets.  

Runi Budget

As I mentioned in the above paragraph, we are officially in the longest crypto bear market ever easily surpassing more than 500 days. And with further delays to the Land 1.5 release, the price of most splinterlands tokens and assets continue to take a hit. The price of DEC continues to suffer and slide further away from its peg, with its current price of $0.727 per 1000 DEC. No surprises here – the delayed release of Land 1.5 and the non-activation of the flywheel will continue to put much pressure on the token price. On the positive side, we continue to see, albeit small, a decrease in the supply of DEC.

Nonetheless, in the past week, we have continued to make progress in owning a Runi by adding 10k DEC to the fund. At least this past week we saw an increase in the Runi fund even with the decrease in the price of DEC.

The Runi NFTs market is in its bubble of sorts because even though there is this perennial crypto bear market on the go, the price of Runis continues to remain stable and there is still some sort of activity on the opensea market. The price of Runis saw no change from last week, with the floor remaining at 0.39 ETH ($621.77).

The sales activity for the past week was slashed in half down to only 4 sales occurring the past week, with the sales ranging from 0.345 ETH ($559.73) to 0.5 ETH ($812.65). The original mint price for a Runi was $500 (0.38 ETH at the time) so these prices are still within its initial price. It's difficult to say whether at this stage what impact the Land 1.5 release will have on the Runi’s price, but the important thing is that Runi’s will have utility within the splinterlands ecosystem, and that positive and for the long-term I like to own NFTs that have utility (sorare fantasy football NFTs that are used in its weekly fantasy competitions) as it creates a demand for them.
