Road to Runi - Update 5 | Splinterlands #304
This past week we had another official splinterlands town hall meeting and as always there is a lot on the go in the splinterlands world. The latest splinterlands airdrop card, Sea Wreck, for the Riftwacher series, was released. For those who bought Riftwatcher packs, don’t forget to check whether you are eligible (if you bought more than 250 packs). I haven’t bought any Riftwacher packs as I spent close to $4k on buying and opening Chaos Legion packs. Also, we finally got an update on the Land 1.5 release and the splinterlands development team continues to be hard at work in polishing up the eagerly anticipated release. From what I understood, is that the Land 1.5 release is almost ready for the Mavs server (some of the longest and biggest splinterlands players), but it also seems that the Land 1.5 release is still some ways away from an official public release.

Something must have gone wrong in the planning and the development of the Land release as we are already six weeks overdue based on the slated August 2023 release. These delays have had an impact on the whole splinterlands ecosystem with card prices, DEC, Vouchers, and SPS all decreasing in price. This is compounded by the long last crypto bear market. Nonetheless, I am still backing the splinterlands dev team as they have proven countless times in the past to be making the right decisions for the long-term health of the game. Naively, I don’t think there is any other play2earn Web 3.0 developer that is as transparent as the splinterlands dev team is with everything going on in the splinterlands ecosystem.
Runi Fund
Something weird happened this week that never occurred before in either the Road to Land or Runi challenges whereby more funds were added to the fund but the overall value of the fund decreased – this happened this week. Therefore, even though I added almost another 13k DEC to the fund, the overall fund decreased by $4. The explanation is simple – the price of DEC decreased over the past week. With further delays to the Land 1.5 release, the price of DEC was impacted and decreased to $0.732 per 1k DEC. Nonetheless, I am not worried as the supply of DEC continues to decrease week by week, and eagerly awaiting to see what the impact of the Land 1.5 release will have on the supply of DEC.

Theoretically, the Land 1.5 release should have an impact on the supply of DEC by decreasing it even more and if the principles of supply and demand apply – then we should see DEC trend towards its journey back to peg.
Runi Market
Admittedly I love doing this challenge as it allows me to stay up to date and see how NFTs outside of Hive are also doing. The Runis floor was not spared and they also decreased in price the past week to 0.39 ETH ($633.58).

The past week’s sales activity for Runi has been the highest since I started this challenge. The past week we saw the Runi sales activity hit double figures, more than doubling the previous week's sales. The Runi sales range varied between 0.2718 ETH ($437.59) and 0.5500 ETH ($896.40).

One way to make sense of this increased sales activity is that it could be people taking advantage of the lower ETH prices and preparing for the Land 1.5 release. Nonetheless, it's good to see there is liquidity for these NFTs.
