This past week we had a lot of happenings in the splinterlands ecosystem. Another season has come to an end and we will unpack that a bit later in the Runi fund section, but also we had the bi-weekly town hall and there was a lot to unpack from this town hall. The Genesis League Sports Governance Token (GLX) and Genesis League Sports Stablecoin (GLUSD) have gotten some utility as they can be used to purchase splinterlands credits. I have mentioned before that I was not impressed by the beta release of GLS and have been unstaking my GLX and converting it to DEC.

Also, with disappointment, even though they have the entire team working on the Land 1.5 release, they won’t be meeting the August deadline for the Land 1.5 release. The team assured everyone that everyone is working hard on delivering a great Land 1.5 release and while no dates were given it may be delayed to Mid-Sept now. We will have to wait until the next town square or town hall to hopefully get a cemented date.

Nonetheless, the team did give us a little preview of the functionality that will become available with the Land 1.5 release. The Overview Region lets you manage production and manipulate resources like Dark Energy, Grain, and Time Crystals. The Plot View allows you to oversee production specifics, from transfers to purchases, while the Worksite View provides in-depth insights into your plot's performance. Furthermore, Slot Management (assuming this is for the monsters staked to the Land plot) allows edits and optimizations.

For those that didn’t read last week's update, I have accomplished the goal of acquiring Land plots and will be now focusing on my next splinterlands challenge – acquiring a Runi NFT. When Land 1.5 releases I will be adding the returns from the plot production. Nonetheless, as I alluded to above, we had another season come to a close and got lucky and received a couple of packs. I have been diligently converting all splinterlands earnings into DEC. With the Land 1.5 release now delayed till mid-September, we have seen the price of DEC range in the $0.81 per 1000 DEC region. I fully expect it to continue to fluctuate in this range until the Land 1.5 and the SPS flywheel kick in and allow DEC to burn its way back to the $1 per 1000 DEC peg value.

Runi Market

The web3 / opensea NFT world is a crazy crazy wild west world and this is what I have gathered from following a few NFT creators on X (formerly Twitter). Rug pulls, scams, and NFTs created from Fiverr sellers are rife so I do take a small bit of solace that at least I will get an ETH-based NFT from a recognized and proven developer in splinterlands. Also, I have come to realize that there is a spread between what's listed for sale on opensea and what is sold. This data also excludes any trade offers on Discord etc. The cheapest listed Runi for sale on opensea is 0.412 ETH ($738.53). However, when you look at the 7-day stats on cryptoslam.io for Runi, the price fluctuates between $750 and $1600.
