Owning a Complete Chaos Legion Regular Foil Set and Land – Update 12 | Splinterlands #264
Another week has passed in my challenge to owning a complete Chaos Legion Regular Foil Set and Land, and I will closely monitor and transparently share all details about the challenge in these posts.
Owning a Complete Chaos Legion Regular Foil Set and Land – Update 12
I generally like to start these weekly challenge updates by looking around to see if there are any significant updates to the splinterlands game or any major happenings. This week we saw the announcement of a new splinterlands promo card and, more importantly, the first-ever dual-element card. That means it can be utilized in Death and Life unit battles. However, this will be a pricey card, and in the same vein as Doctor Blight, I will not be looking to purchase it. Also, it will have a limited supply – only 15000 cards printed, so I will sit on the sidelines and focus on the challenge I have set for myself.
Another exciting splinterlands update is the ability to delegate staked SPS to other players. We finally got an update regarding this feature in this week's town hall. It's been coming for ages, being announced when SPS was first released. This feature will be rolled out in a few weeks to a few months, allowing players to earn at their full potential within the game.
Land Funds
Regarding progress toward the Land purchase, I continue to funnel all earnings from the splinterlands game toward the Land purchase fund. As we all know, there are many ways to earn from the splinterlands game. Many games in the web3 space tend to focus on the GameFi aspects and ignore the gameplay aspect. This is where splinterlands is different – it's been building since 2018, focusing on the gameplay mechanics and bedding it down. The GameFi elements have been gradually added to the game over the years. Preamble aside, doing this challenge has allowed me to take stock of all the earnings from the game and put it aside for the Land purchase. For the 1k challenge, I was primarily funding that with new money, whereas for this year's challenges, I am opting to use earnings from the game and re-invest it back into the game. This week I added another $40 to the fund. Not all of this was earned the past week from the game; I just spent this week being more diligent and documenting various earnings. I forgot to account for Vouchers and Chaos Legion packs earned from daily and season chest rewards in previous weeks. The fund is growing nicely, and I will continue to save up the funds as I will look to purchase a Magical plot of Land.
Land Prices
This week we saw the prices of the cheaper lands (Common, Rare, Epic) all decreased in price, and I wondered if we are seeing more and more people surveying their Land and then placing it on the market or if people are selling to free up funds for the new promo card. Unsure, but regardless the rarer Land assets prices have stayed relatively stable, and some even increase in price. In theory, I could purchase a Common rarity Land, but I am opting to set my sights on a Magical Land asset of Common or Rare rarity.
