This week’s battle challenge focuses on the Naga Assassin.

Card Details

A Reward edition rare level monster from the Dragon unit at level 3:

  • Estimated cost: $0.438

  • Range attack: 1

  • Speed: 5

  • Health: 4

This week we are taking a break from focusing on the Choas Legion edition monsters and focusing on the Naga Assassin. The Naga Assassin is a reward edition card that can be received for free by completing daily focuses and opening up seasonal reward chests. Let's start with the pros; low mana cost, good health to mana cost ratio, high speed and can be picked up for free or cheaply. The cons? Range damage is negligible, and you must level it to level four to unlock its first ability, which requires you to have a summoner at level four, which requires investment. What makes it an exciting card is the Backfire ability, which, when procced, does double its range damage, coupled with high speed can result in it being procced 1-2 times in a battle.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

I had forgotten the early days when the new Chaos Legion reward cards were first released. You had the Venari Wavesmith and Venari Bonesmiths fetching a decent price ($1+ per bcx level). This battle reminded me why those lower-level cards could be the difference maker. I didn't play either card and focused the strategy on having low-cost mana meat shields (Gargoya Scrapper + Chaos Agent) upfront, along with the Void and Divine Shield abilities to allow them to survive long enough. Well, this strategy started promising. However, I didn't account for the Bonesmith's Life Leech ability. Even though Naga Assassin tried valiantly to make a difference in this battle, it couldn't outpace the Life Leech ability health gain. If only I had leveled up Naga Assassin to level four and unlocked Backfire, this battle may have turned out differently.

Do you like the Naga Assassin? Why or why not?

Listen, any card you get for free will always be a welcomed addition to my splinterlands collection. I would ask, would it be worth keeping it or leveling it up? Backfire is a relatively new ability; therefore, if you are looking for alternatives, Naga Assassin is worth keeping and leveling up. If you are looking for low mana cost range monsters, then the Naga Assassin is the only monster from the Dragon unit. So there you have it, definitely a card to keep and worth leveling up. Did I mention you can get it free? What are you waiting for?
