This week's battle mage secrets on the Lost Magic Ruleset.

Ruleset Details

The exclusion of magic monsters not only eliminates magic damage but also eradicates the realm of buff and debuff spells that many magic monsters wield. This compels a radical reimagining of tactics and an embrace of diverse abilities and units. And obliviously this means more melee and range monsters will be deployed. One strategy to approaching Lost Magic battles is the use of certain abilities that counters melee damage or reduces melee damage. Abilities like Thorns impose damage upon melee monsters, meanwhile, Demoralize reduces opposition melee attacks. Other abilities to consider are abilities such as Headwinds and Return Fire which affects range monsters by weakening ranged attacks and enabling counterattacks against ranged monsters.

In splinterlands battles, the interplay of ruleset combinations can occasionally align synergistically. In this particular battle, despite the Lost Magic ruleset excluding the use of magic monsters, the Melee Mayhem ruleset allows melee monsters to attack from any position. The final ruleset, Noxious Fumes, mandated the fact that I need to hit hard and fast to try to survive the corrosive effects of poison damage. The Melee Mayhem ruleset proved to be a lifeline as I assembled a strong lineup of melee monsters. These melee monsters boasted varying attributes: high health, high armor, and a few wielded buffs and debuffs abilities. The synergy among these monsters, in tandem with the presence of Daria Dragonscale, culminated in a victory achieved with remarkable ease and composure.

Do you like the Lost Magic ruleset? Why or why not?

Restrictive rulesets like Lost Magic can be unfair at times due to the simple fact that it relies on players having big collections of monsters. I have encountered battles with ruleset combinations like Lost Magic and Even Stevens and therefore only to put out 3-4 monsters due to the limitations and results of a loss before even starting the battle. List, I don't want to complain all the time, but Lost Magic does force heavy magic monster users like myself to expand beyond the default strategies and utilize approaches and monsters in battles. Therefore, it does provide utility to monsters that don't get a look in, if their monster compatriot was available.
