Lost Legendaries Ruleset Battle Mage Secrets | Splinterlands #295
This week’s battle mage secrets on the Lost Legendaries Ruleset.
Ruleset Details
In this ruleset, legendary units are not allowed on the battlefield, but legendary summoners can still be selected. The concept is simple; create a deck without any legendary monsters. Focus on using epic, rare, and common monsters to plan your battles. This restriction does present a challenge to players who are used to using overpowered legendary monsters especially those overpowered combos -> Llama Kron combo. One tactic to consider is how to minimize damage through using damage reflection as players will tend to use a lot of the cheaper range monsters in this ruleset so being able to counter that will be important.

Battle Details
Mana cap: 24
Rulesets(s): Lost Legendaries, Counterspell, Back to Basics
Lineup Details
Kelya Frendul (Summoner): +1 armor and +1 speed to all friendly monsters.
Diemonshark: primary melee DPS tank with high armor.
Hardy Stonefish: sacrificial melee fodder to distract the opposition from damaging range backline.
Xenith Archer + Angelic Mandarin + Igor Darkspear + Kulu Swimhunter: primary range damage.
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
In this battle, the impact of an extra +1 speed took center stage. Tyrus Paladium, known for +1 armor, faced off against a Chaos Legion summoner, Kelya Frendul, with the same +1 armor and an added +1 speed boost. The synergy between Lost Legendaries, Counterspell, and Back to Basics rulesets simplified the strategy. With a focus on hitting hard and the +1 speed advantage on my side, victory was within reach. Despite my four ranged monsters (doing a total of five damage) against two from the opposition (doing a total of five damage), it was Diemonshark's domination that ensured our victory, destroying the opposition's melee monsters. This battle showcased again the potency of speed and how it can play in your favor.
Do you like the Lost Legendaries ruleset? Why or why not?
While I am not a fan of rulesets that restricts the use of certain monsters as it relies too much on players having large collections and therefore put newer players on the back foot -> this ruleset benefits everyone as most players will not have a large collection filled with legendary monsters but rather players will have the majority of common, rare and epic monsters so the restriction will not have that huge impact. With that in mind, to succeed in this ruleset you need to be able to hit hard and have monsters that can counter attacks.
