Land 1.5 Is Officially Released

Source

After what seemed like forever, splinterlands has reached a major milestone in the past week with the release of Land 1.5. This is the culmination of many years of patience (by the community) and hard work and effort by the splinterlands team. After spending almost 6 months of the year working towards purchasing two plots of Land, it is great to finally start to use the Land plots.

My initial experience with the Lands was good -- everything seemed to work fine, apart from the site being slow. I had to reacquaint myself with the Land 1.5 User Guide by the splinterlands team. Even when I am assembling a new piece of equipment, I never consult the manual, but I had to refer to the user guide a few times when I was trying to figure out how to construct a work site.

I opted to build one grain farm (farms grain) and one mine shard (mines SPS). Even though both Land plots are magical and offer a 100% boost to research, I just figured that with so few Land plots, it would be useless, and I would rather prefer to mine grain and SPS and start earning some return on the Land plot purchases. I spent/staked 31k DEC to purchase two power cores and stake 10 Beta edition monsters to the Land plots.

I debated whether I should purchase some time crystals, but I would need nine hundred time crystals to speed up the building of the worker sites which would be another 90k DEC, which I decided not to do as it would set the Runi NFT challenge back at least 1.5 months. I have waited long enough for the Land release, what is another month? It will be a nice Christmas present to myself when the construction is complete.

Rebellion Challenge Details

In last week's update, I presented details on my next splinterlands challenge which will focus on completing a regular foil Rebellion set. With the Rebellion set just under a week away from the general sale, I have been consuming lots of different content about all the new cards and have identified a couple of key cards that I will look to target first as part of the new challenge.

Initial Key Cards Flagged For Purchasing

Now these cards I have identified are purely based on theory crafting and therefore I have not played with any of these (I did not purchase packs so will not be able to access these cards on the Mav QA server).

Karst Harpy

This could be a cost-effective monster card especially since it has a low mana cost (three) concerning its damage, health, and speed. May prove to be useful in Rise of the Commons rulesets battles.

Bera Dallin

Source

Looks like a beast of a tank with Taunt, Shield, Void Armor, high armor, and health.

Chaos Animator

Source

Another great-looking low mana-cost (three) no-attack card with the potential to be used in a Redemption team as a solid tank. Also, may be a candidate to synergize well with Weapons Training ability.

Chaos Jailer

Source

A melee monster with Ambush, Opportunity, and Poison. If it is half as good as the Silvershield Assassin, it will become an especially useful addition to have.

Helheim Demon

Source

Another magic-taunting tank that can be deployed in the backline or frontline and the same group as Iziar.

Chaos Lackey

Source

Yes, it has a low range damage, but high speed, high health and a Dispel which may prove useful.

Ulundin Overseer

Source

Twenty-seven combined health and armor which according to my understanding, is the highest health and armor combination in the game. Yes, it comes at a high mana cost (11), and it has one speed, but it does have the new Flank ability and another candidate that may benefit from Weapons Training.

Solace Ashinach

A ninja-wielding dragon -- how insane is that artwork? Also, at a low mana cost (four), it may prove especially useful in the Thorns ruleset because of its abilities which allow it to counter damage.

Concluding Thoughts

It has been a huge week in the splinterlands game, and I could not be happier for the team and the community. This has been the culmination of many years of effort which have finally come to fruition. Also, a special note of congratulations to the splinterlands creative/art department. The artwork on the Rebellion set is so good and it is as polished as some of those high-quality Netflix animation/anime shows.
