Goblin Psychic Weekly Battle Challenge | Splinterlands #153
This week’s battle challenge focuses on the Goblin Psychic.
Card Details
A Chaos Legion common level monster from the Earth Splinter at level 1:

Magic attack: 2
Speed: 1
Health: 3
Tank Heal ability: Restores a portion of the Monster in the first position's health each round.
Another week, another battle challenge and the trend of focusing on Chaos Legion continues as I mentioned previously, its great as you get to learn the new cards. The quintessential Dark Mage from traditional RPGs -> weak health, devasting abilities that apply hexes to enemies and therefore nullifying their impact in battle, and no slouch in combat damage output. The Goblin Psychic has similarities to this character type, and I am surprised to see another helpful common-level monster from the Chaos Legion collection. Pity it has a high mana cost which using it in a low mana cap battle may disadvantage you, but somehow in the battle below, it turned out to work in my favour.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
I know I got lucky I tempted fate by playing a level 1 Goblin Psychic in Diamond III, but it's always satisfying to defeat a legendary Yodin Zaku. The battle showcased the excellent synergy between Stone Golem and Goblin Psychic. The primary strategy was for Stone Golem to lead the line and be the melee tank, while being supported by Goblin Psychic through healing chipping in with damage. The sacrificial lambs, Furious Chicken and Creeping Ooze, also served their purpose as they could absorb the damage from the Blast ability (Yodin Zaku ability). All in all, a satisfying win!
Do you like the Goblin Psychic? Why or why not?
Another high-priced (relatively speaking for Chaos Legion) common-level card? It's not surprising why the market is valuing the Goblin Psychic. This card will play that Dark Mage role at higher levels by applying buffs to friendly monsters and critical debuffs to enemy monsters. There's no other monster with the same abilities when looking for alternatives, and therefore Goblin Psychic is a unique card. Yes, there are other alternative monsters like Beetle Queen, Wood Nymph, Sporcerer and Elven Mystic, but these are much more expensive. The Goblin Psychic is one of the monsters that I will look to be upgrading and getting to the max level (level 6) that I can play it.
