This week’s battle challenge focuses on the Diemonshark .

A Chaos Legion edition rare level monster from the Water unit at level 3:

  • Estimated cost: $5.953

  • Melee attack: 3

  • Armor: 6

  • Health: 8

  • Trample ability - When a Monster with Trample hits and kills its target, it will perform another attack on the next Monster on the enemy Team.

Halloween is upon us, and traditionally I like to do 31 days of horror, whereby I watch one horror movie every day during October. The list of movies varies year by year. Yes, the list includes the classics like Halloween and Friday the 13th, and in some years, I throw in some of the newer movies like Hereditary. Coincidentally for this year's 31 days of horror, I included Jaws 1 and 2 to rewatch. While it's not strictly a horror movie, it has enough moments of suspense, and the ambiance adds to this—an absolute classic and must-watch for those that haven't seen it. Returning to the challenge, the Diemonshark joins the Water unit, which now has a trio (is the Wave Runner, a shark?) of shark monsters (Demented Shark and Sabre Shark). The Diemonshark has many pros; lots of survivability (health and armor), is fast, and packs a mean punch. The only downside is that it can't make a full tank that can lead from the frontline (Heal or Shield abilities).

Battle - Full Battle Replay

Battle Details

  • Mana cap: 27

  • Rulesets(s): Silenced Summoners, Rise of the Commons

Lineup Details

  • Kelya Frendul (Summoner): +1 speed and +1 armor to all friendly monsters.

  • Diemonshark: primary melee DPS tank.

  • Wave Runner: support melee damage due to Reach ability.

  • Venari Wavesmith + Angelic Mandarin + Xenith Archer: backline magic and range damage + armor team buffs.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

The last few battle challenges have resulted in losses for the featured monsters, so it's great to be able to get back to winning ways. The strategy was simple - Diemonshark leading the team with lots of damage, health, and armor, the Wave Runner providing support damage, and the backline trio of Venari Wavesmith, Angelic Mandarin, and Xenith Archer providing support magic and range damage and armor buffs. I prefer tanks to have heal or some shield abilities, but the Diemonshark was great in this battle. It landed many blows and took many hits. I was worried at one stage that the momentum had swung in my opponent's favor with many missed hits on Regal Peyrton due to its high speed. I had enough armor and health to outlast those misses and clinch victory.

Do you like the Diemonshark? Why or why not?

This is a top card, even though it doesn't have the abilities I would prefer on my tanks. It's usable at all levels and can be utilized in many rulesets. The market also seems to rate it highly, where a single bcx card will set you back $0.4, which surprised me as the Chaos Legion is still in print, and many cards are on the market. I have already leveled it up to the max level on my alt account and working on leveling it up to level 5 for my main account as it will be a valuable card to have in the collection for the future.
