The "Perfect" Article

Perfect. Why does such a word exist in a world that is far from it?

Perfect. What does it really mean? The dictionary defines it as “having no mistakes or flaws”. Does something like that truly exists? If something perfect really exists then what does that mean for us? Why are we not?

Perfect Life

Can you envision a life without any flaw without any problem, a perfect life? How does it look like? Do you have a big house standing on a wide chunk of land with what seems like an endless meadow of healthy green just outside the fence? Or does it resemble a celebrity mansion back on Beverly hills, with a wide pool in the garden area? A veranda overlooking the vast sea over a garage that houses a dozen of cars?

Image 1

As you look around the house, who are the people you see? A strong and a reliable father. A warm and a loving mother. Brothers and sisters perhaps that run around the house with laughter and joy painted all over their faces.

There are no bills in side since they are all paid for all eternity and money is not a thing since the money on the bank exceeds what a normal calculator could handle. Oh yeah. What a life.

As you open your eyes and get back to the reality. What’s so different with what life you are currently living in? Which one would you prefer?

Perfect Love

What about in relationship? What does a perfect relationship looks like? Is it a relationship without fighting or argument? Is it a connection where you are always in sync and on the same page? Does your partner look like prince charming personified? Or is she a princess without her throne? Date night every night? No tears to fall only warmth and smiles all around? Does it sound perfect?

Image 2

Now look at your current state of hearts. Is it perfect? How would you like it to be?

As you picture both scenarios in your mind, perfect life and perfect love, what do they have in common? If you ask me there’s one thing they have in common : they are impossible. They seem to be nothing but a hopeless fantasy. Life is not that good. It’s messy, it’s challenging, it’s full of struggles and it is full of things we may call wrong. Love is not as easy as that, there is no love without a few heart aches. There is no love without a little bit of hurt. There is no love as flawless as that. Love as they say is a battlefield.

Nobody’s perfect. That is what they say. For all the generations that have lived before us and for many others that will precede us, still the statement will be true, since we can’t even imagine what a “perfect” somebody is. It is just not possible to create a model of a perfect human being because no one knows what will be the criteria of being a perfect being. Does it have to do with looks? Does it have something to do with statistics? Does it have something to do with our physiological functions? No one can say for sure. And no one can really say because one must be perfect to judge another perfect being, but since nobody is, then nobody will be.

What about the phrase “practice makes perfect”? Can practice really produce a perfect result? What does that even mean? If anything, I can say that it should be “practice makes you better”. For example, you are practicing your writing. You have practiced for 20 and so years, you have written hundreds maybe thousand of times before. How would you know if you have reached the “perfect”.

Let us look at it at a more concrete level. Let us say that the field is pottery. The perfect stage is when you can make a flower vase that is flawless, right in all aspects and abides to all standards human can make. After a few hundred tries, you created the vase that checks all the boxes, you’ve achieved the “perfect”. But did you? Really? Does that one vase erases all the past vases? Does it invalidates all the previous trials? If you look at it from the bigger picture you as a potter are not perfect. You just managed to create 1/100000000 good vases. If anything, it can be said that you are a better potter than you started as.

And with that, I think he word perfect is subjective. It depends upon the criteria and the standards of the observer. So “perfect” varies from person to person. What is perfect for me, might not be perfect for you, and vice versa.

We hold the word “perfect” to a high degree but in reality, it is nothing but another word for preference. It is nothing more than just that. Life is not perfect, we are not perfect and that's what makes us beautiful and what makes life exciting.

Hey there!

I agree with it. Maybe the word 'Perfect' is invented to remind us that we are all not. I can even petition to have 'Impossible' as its definition.

If we think if it, nothing can come under the criteria of perfection. I admit, I use those words to describe something or someone I really like but just for some enhanced affirmation.

Even the most synchronized choreography I've ever seen has some flaws, too. The clearest of all skins in the world has some imperfections, too. The thing is, it just doesn't appear in the naked eye.

'Nohing is perfect' reminds us that no one is above another after all. Some maybe just ahead, or further, but all of us have our own flaws, which makes us human, and real.

This is a perfect article to discribe the word "perfect ". :) Okay I think perfect as such does not exist. If see create or see something really good, there will be always better and also I think there is no good or bad. Here is what I mean by that. I say this song is good. I say good because I like it. It is good for me. Others may say it is not good, because they don't like it. So what is it then? I would rather say I like it or not.

That is true. There can be no perfect thing, or even good and bad since there is no set universal criteria for such. It will always depend on a person's taste and preference... we can judge all and the same things in different manners.

We are perfect with imperfections. Because if we are literally perfect then what will happen to the world? It will never be balanced.

Oooh. Balance. Wouldn't it be balanced if we are all the same?? Like robots i mean. Or like in the movie the giver. But you're right, I agree. Imperfections make us perfect.

No. If we are all perfect then all of us are excellent in everything from well-being and statuses in life. No more poor existence, you think if all people is rich who will serve the king? If all is excellent would excellent people like to be an employee when he can be business owners? What happens if we are all in a corporate world but nobody will work for us because all people are excellent we were overqualified due to our perfection.

Do you think there is a balance on that?

Robots sometimes malfunction, who will fix them? If there is no worker?

That's a great point. Yep yep. I get it now. If we are all of the same status and standings, there will be no society and there will be no economy.

But I guess, somehow, some way we as humans will find a way to mess things up . We're humans. Haha
