Run Forrest, Run

"My momma always said... life's like a box of chocolate, you never know what you gonna get..."

If you are into movies you might have run into that line once or twice in your life. That line has really been a big part of my childhood. If you still don't know which movie that line is from, you are missing out on A LOT. Anyhow, that line is from the movie Forrest Gump.

Forrest Gump was a film which starred Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump himself. The story of the movie revolved around several years in the life of Forrest from his early years to his married life.

The film was based on a 1986 novel with the same title but as the people involved in the production said, the movie is observably different to the novel in many key aspects of the story.

I have never read the novel myself so I could not comment on how true that statement was, but I can imagine that what they are saying is true.

The story pictured Forrest Gump as a slow kid, mentally, but he has got with him a golden and kind heart. Following the teachings of her mother he unwittingly influenced many significant events in the history of America, from political aspects to pop culture and fashion.

The film revolves around the life of Forrest and the incidents or the scenes are presented in a somewhat comedic way with a touch of mellow drama at times.

Forrest Gump, in the movie has accomplished a lot of things and achieved many great feats that one person could only imagine in his entire life. From a wimp with a crooked back who knows nothing but to run in the face of adversity, Forrest grew up to be an All-American football player, a soldier decorated with a medal of honor, an All-American table tennis player, a boat captain, a gardener and an early investor in Apple.

It's truly remarkable how the events turned the way they did and how each of them impact Forrest in a big way.

As mentioned above, I apologize for the spoilers, but if you really haven't seen the movie, I don't know what you're doing for the early years of your life, anyway, as mentioned above he achieved many great things in his life and all the while, he was pursuing the girl of his dreams, Jenny.

Jenny was the first friend, "the only friend" Forrest ever made in his childhood. She's the one who opened up Forrest's mind to a whole lot of other things. She also opened his mind in the wonders of human anatomy.

Jenny came from a dark background with an abusive father so she has a different outlook in life and freedom. That's the reason why Forrest didn't have a smooth sailing when it comes to the sea of relationship with Jenny. It is described in the film how Jenny came and walked out of his life over and over again. And for a simple description Jenny was a biatch. I think the song "Jenny" by The Click Five was made for her character.

I'm not going to spoil how everything ends with Forrest if in case you have not watch it and you decided in the end to have a look at it, and I swear that you will not be wasting an hour or so watching the film. I pray hope that you enjoy the film if you decide to watch it.

Emotions

This movie is not a straight arrow when it comes to making you feel things. It's not an all-comedy kind of thing, the drama was not that heavy but you will surely take a solemn and mild roller coaster ride watching this film. There are times that it's kind of funny, then it will be kind of sad, then there are moments that will inspire your imaginations and there are those "a-ha!" moments that will just leave you nodding and saying to the TV "I see what you did there".

There was this part in the movie that I really find entertaining and really saddening at the same time.

It was the part where Jenny has just left Forrest, again, and just out of nowhere Forrest decided to run. There was a part earlier in the film where Jenny told Forrest to run whenever things get a little out of hand or he sensed that trouble is coming. Maybe that time, he decided to run because everything was not okay and he just don't know what to do anymore.

I feel like he was running his wits out to be free from the shackles that was holding him down at that time. He ran, and he ran across the whole state of Alabama. But the interesting thing there is that when his running became sort of viral, he garnered a lot of attention and people sort of followed him and ran behind him. One day came and Forrest stopped running, he turned around to his crowd and said "I'm tired." and that he was going home.

One of the man from the crowd said, "What do we do now?" Well, that's the thing that saddens me. Because that is very true in life. We blindly follow people that "inspired" us without even knowing what the hell we are doing in our own life. That's just unacceptably painful and it's true.

Epilogue

I guess in the end, all I can say is that Forrest Gump is a really good movie. Until today, it will be as relevant as it was back then. It's easily a classic. So if you find yourself bored, in the house and wanted to see some entertaining and uplifting movie that may or may not bring you to tears, I highly recommend seeing Forrest Gump. I have seen this movie one too many times but the effect and impact is still the same every single time.

Hey there, run!!!

Thank you once again for stumbling into this humble space of mine. I hope you enjoyed the read and you found something interesting or a bit useful. Is there a movie that would recommend me in exchange for this one, and why?

Anyhow, it would be lovely to chat with you so hit me up with a comment down below, I do hope to see you again on the next one and as always ...

Cheers!!!

What a privilege to have read through this story. Unfortunately, many parents don't give the need training to make their children live and excellent live in society.

Apart from the comedy in this movie, it tells about what we can give to our wards to make them soft hearted and responsible wherever they find themselves.
