He was on his knees in front of a lady that is passed out on the darkness of the alley. His fingers on the button of her blouse. Some passers by saw him and shouted at him, one guy grabbed him by the collar, a punch here, a kick there and soon enough he was curled up on the cold pavement retching in pain beside the disheveled girl. He coughed out blood and could not coherently speak. A few minutes later, the cops arrived, took him in and the girl was sent to the hospital in an ambulance.
He was sent to a prison cell and he began to contemplate his life. He led a simple yet straight life. He was an ordinary salaryman who do sales call in the daily from 9 in the morning until 6 in the evening. At 7 in the night, he would normally walk his way home. But not that night. For that night, he received a big commission on a sale he made possible and decided to blow off some cash in a nearby pub. He went in and had a couple of drinks. He was not drunk, not at all. After only a few mugs of beer, he decided to call it a night and he went on his way home happily and a bit tipsy. He went on his way without even a remote idea that his luck would turn for the worse.
She was a studious innocent girl. The thesis she was working on with friends just passed the final presentation so decided to celebrate and went to a club. Equipped with some fake IDs they scored from an online shop, they courageously took on the night scene. They danced, drank and partied hard. She met a handful of guys on the dance floor, one was particularly good looking with a nice smile and deep set eyes that were looking through her skin. She was there to party, and party she did. The boy started touching her body like he was patting her down or something and he pulled her closer to him. It may be the alcohol or the high she just got from a successful presentation back at the university that's making her quite open and more adventurous than usual. He leaned in for a kiss, she met him half way. They were full on making out on the dance floor.
He then asked her to join him and his friends on their table and she went accordingly. A drink turns to two and then four. Slowly, she felt her head begun to get heavier and heavier and she was losing her will to comprehend every single thing. The boys around the table were laughing loudly getting all handsy on her. She was on the brink of passing out and she tried to call out to her friends but she couldn't even produce even a single squeak.
He buried his face into his hands and was crying with all his might. He was scared, he was frightened, but most of all he felt betrayed. In all the years he lived his life, he maintained living the right life to the best of his beliefs. He held his head down to not to offend anyone and he tried his hardest to be on the good side of the law. He never imagined that in just one mistake his life could change and everything he preserved could crumble at any moment.
He spent the night in jail, she spent the night in a hospital bed. Both lives ruined, both of them punished in just a night of misjudgment and carelessness.
Soon enough they were both released and they met again for the first time after the incident. She hugged her and she apologized, he shook her hand and wished him good luck.
As it turned out, the guy was just there after the fact. He called the police as the boys she was partying with shuffled away running. He knelt down beside her to try to button back her blouse and there came the crown who mistook him for her assailant. Although she was lying almost dead, her memories were clear and she was positive and corroborated his testimony so the charges were dropped and he was free. It was an unfortunate chain of events but was not out of the realm of possibilities. Life works mysteriously sometimes. For both of them, it sucked.
Conclusion
Sometimes, things are not always as they seem. We should not be quick to judge everything we see and we should always be open to an alternate possibility. The crowd acted upon something they do not understand putting their emotions first. That is often times the case for us human beings, react first and think later. We as human beings are judgmental even without the right basis.
We should respect other people's perspective because we may not know what really is right and true in every situation.
Hey there!
Thank you for reading another random article of mine. I just wanted to talk about how judgmental we all are. Most of the times, we should really take a closer look at things to be able to ascertain the truth. Anyway, what about you? Have you experienced being mistaken for anything? You can always drop by on the comment section if you have any thoughts about this one.
As always,
Cheers!!!
