It was just a few moments before the morning bell rings and the corridors of the high school were filled with proliferating students gossiping, talking, and just plain flirting.
Mari and her crew were walking along the halls and the other students were unconsciously making way for her, they were silenced and some scattered away from the hallways avoiding them altogether. Most of the students fear Mari and her group since they are known as a notorious delinquent group. And the baseball bat she was dragging against the floor didn't help with her image.
People were surprised to see her so early in the day because they are used to seeing her going to class in the middle of the day if she even decides to go. The bell rang and she turned left into her classroom and the atmosphere in the room became gloomy and dark.
Jeremy did not pay any attention to Mari and her entourage and was just absorbed in looking at the world outside the window.
Junjun was just visibly shaking and shuddering as Mari pulled a chair behind Jeremy and sat. She poked Jeremy's chair with the baseball bat and told him.
"Hey, tough guy. Welcome to the school. I'll guess I will be seeing you every day."
She said that in a tough and in almost a threat. But deep inside, the girl's voice inside her wanted to tell him that she was glad to be seeing him every single day. The girl inside her almost shrieked in happiness.
Jeremy turned his head towards her and shot her a glance. And with his piercing brown eyes, Mari felt the electricity shot through her chest and to her whole body. She wanted to scream and jumped around but she could not and she could not hide the flustered face she had.
Junjun looked at Mari, "Why is your face so red?"
Before he could even finish the question Junjun met the fullness of Mari's palm from a forceful slap across his face.
"It's not red, I was just hot from walking to here. Dimwit!"
During the classes, Mari was just looking at Jeremy's back. He could also feel the weight of her stare but chose not to pay any attention to her. He does not want any trouble or any attention to him for he would just like to live a quiet and common high school life.
"Hey Jermy" Junjun called him out of nowhere. He could not even complete his name and Jeremy just let it slide because it was just a waste of time to argue with that four-eyed dummy.
"Hey, Jermy, Mari is looking at you." Junjun fell silent when he felt a cold metal pressed against his cheek. It was the bat Mari was holding.
"Shut up, pipsqueak, " Mari snapped at him and it sent shivers all through his body, and was forced to sit back straight on his chair.
The bell rang signaling lunch. Jeremy now knows how the cafeteria works so he opted to bring his own lunch to school. He was about ready to get to eating when several students gathered around him. Boys and girls alike. He can feel the hostility of their stares.
"I am trying to eat."
"Mari wants you in the hideout."
"I am eating. If you just wait for..."
The guy took away his food. Jeremy fell silent and he looked down. Slowly, he looked up at the assailant and with his eyes burning in fury he punched the guy flat in the face.
"They are now fighting Jeremy. What should we do boss?" a girl asked Mari while she was sitting on a chair with her feet on top of the armrest.
"Fighting? Why?!!" Mari then quickly got up and ran towards the room.
She entered the room with a full-blown riot. She shouted "STOP!" and everyone yielded.
"What happened here? I told you to invite him. Not pick a fight with him."
"That guy, he took Jeremy's food." Junjun pointed at the instigator.
Mari walked towards the guy and grabbed him by the collar. "What the hell did you do?" she then slapped the guy.
She walked back towards Jeremy. "I am really sorry for this. Come on, I'll take you to lunch to pay for the food."
She offered her hand and Jeremy took it.
Kyaaa--ah. He's touching my hand.
"Clear these up," Mari commanded the remaining students, and they started clearing things up and organizing the whole classroom.
They got into the cafeteria and it was still a bloodbath as Jeremy expected. But this time it was different. He was with Mari. The students in the cafeteria made way for Mari and Jeremy and a path leading to the stands cleared up. They were able to order a decent meal and the students were just waiting for them. When they got their order, they proceeded to sit on a table and the bloodbath continued.
"There you may eat now."
Jeremy started eating without even a second thought.
Mari just watched him.
"Who are you? You are not just an ordinary delinquent."
Mari laughed at his remark. "No no, I'm not. I want you to join me. Join us."
"Pass."
"Together we can....what? Did you just say pass?"
"Yes. Pass. I have no intention of joining any group."
"What?? You can live a carefree high school life if you..."
"Pass."
"Alright I'll leave you to think about it," Mari got up and left Jeremy eating on the table.
Junjun frantically walked towards Jeremy and joined him at the table.
"What did Mari want?"
"She wanted me to join her. I declined. Who is she anyway?"
"Oh right, you don't know. Mari practically owns the school. Her parents do."
Hey there!
I hope you enjoy another installment of this story. If you are into Anime-like settings, you might find this one a little close and really familiar. The more I write this one, the more Anime-like it goes. And that's not a bad thing I think. I really like Anime.
Anyhow, thank you so much for visiting and it's my pleasure that you are here. As always ...
