It is of a common perception that when one is addicted to something he or she is unable to go escape it on his or her own. But this isn't the case. When we create something we are the ones supposed to find antidotes for it. We can psych our minds to get rid of any sort of thing that takes much of our time and makes our lives unbalanced. For instance, gaming is a good thing to do. But some people are so into gaming that, they play it for the entire day without eating. How is it supposed be so? Since when did gaming become a substitute for food? It applies to all other things that we do more than necessary or even not to be done at all. A hormone known as Dopamine is what regulates our desire for things like sex, games, reading, watching TV all the time etc. Dopamine is also a neurotransmitter. The more you do something the more its transmission of such impulses is enhanced. You can avoid such things. If you're habitual in doing something you can break that"curse" by avoiding it periodically.

As stated earlier on that dopamine makes you crave for things, you can underdevelop that crave by detoxifying it. Let's say you like playing video games all the time and it making not focus on your studies. Why not stop gaming for atleast a week to see what happens. In that whole week try to study. Don't worry whether it is boring or not, just study. Indeed you will miss gaming but try to challenge yourself and go another week without it. Very soon you will be reluctant to play video games. Try it for any habitual stuff it works very effectively. Try Dopamine detox.
