Shearwater GeoServices has been awarded a contract to conduct 3D surveys, imaging, and reservoir characterization offshore South Korea

Following processing, the contract includes reservoir property prediction analysis.

It will be the company's first reservoir characterisation project in collaboration with Qeye, encompassing the entire workflow from data collection to geoscience deliverables.

By providing the full sequence of geophysical services, from acquisition to final subsurface property prediction, we support our clients' ambitions to shorten project timelines, increase technical assurance, and generate additional value,' said Shearwater CEO Irene Waage Basili.

'We are excited to collaborate with KNOC in a new geographic market and to provide high-quality seismic data and reservoir characterisations.'

The Myungtae 3D survey in Block 6-1 Central & East encompasses approximately

2,575 sq km.

The data will be processed using a full-time and depth imaging sequence, with predicted reservoir properties delivered.

The second survey includes approximately

500 square kilometres of data processed using a full-time processing sequence

The Geo Coral will be used by Shearwater to collect the two 3D surveys.

The surveys are expected to take approximately 30 minutes.

It will take four months to complete during the summer of 2022.

The Geo Coral is a high-capacity seismic vessel that can acquire multiple components and has been operating in the Asia Pacific region for the past two years.
